I am in NC (central) and I am looking to buy a new XB12s in the next month or so. Just wondering if there are any dealers that offer great deals and good service for future upgrades. Thanks, escham |

Escham - there are several dealers "near" you. We are in eastern NC and purchased our Uly from Shelton's HD/Buell in Goldsboro. Shelton also has stores in Durham and Smithfield. In Raleigh, Ray Price HD/Buell, and I believe Tilley's in Statesville. I'm sure there are others. Come over to Storm Fronts, C3 - Carolina Corner Carvers. We have members from all over NC and they can probably give you some more info. Feel free to join us and chat. |

HD/Buell of Greensboro is a good dealer to deal with. I usually drive pass COX's HD/Buell (with whom I bought my XB) to get to Greensboro. But as far as in stock bikes, the previous 3 mentioned are great. What are you looking at getting. Another fellow Bueller currently has his on the market. It is a very well maintained and mechanically sound '03 XB9R. |

Tilley's isn't the same shop it used to be. They do have some good guys in the shop to do work and the service managers are Buell smart. Carolina HD, Gastonia, has some Buells on the floor (2 used Uly's -- the slow orange ones) and they have a GREAT service writer (Eric) who will take care of Buell riders. I've purchased 3 bikes from each dealer and I can say good things about both dealers. Since BlueRidge (Hickory) changed hands it's become a HD boutique. One of the owners, Chris Something, actually drag races Buells but they don't seem interested in Buell business. YMMV, G2 |

The two options in central NC would be Ray Price in Raleigh or Shelton's in Goldsboro, Smithfield, or Durham. Ray Price is bigger as a singular store, but obviously Shelton's has more locations. I worked at Ray Price for ~3 years. To put it nicely, they haven't always been the best Buell dealer. However, they have been trying to get more involved in the Buell market. They currently have 3-4 Buell riding employees, at least one in each department (parts, service, sales). I can't guarantee you a good experience if you go there, but the guys at Ray Price would at least appreciate the opportunity to earn your business. |

Thanks All. I have been to Greensboro and High Point. Was not impressed with the sales people. At Greensboro, girl quoted me 12,500 out the door for the xb12ss. I called her on it and she said it was a computation error. I haven't been back there. Went to High Point and the salesgirl nearly knocked over a row of sportsters trying to get to another customer when she found out I would not be in the market for another month or so. I have been to Sheltons (Durham) and they were much more knowledgeable . I may go to Rays today on my way to work (Butner). I hope to be able to make it to Hickory by Fall to get a Drummer and a tune. |

Tilley's is still selling tickets for the CityX raffle that will take place June 3rd. www.tilleyhd.com Try calling to buy tickets though, they don't seem to answer emails very quickly. Don't know much about their tech staff, but the sales people were really nice when I went in there about 6 months ago. Their Buell's looked a bit dusty though; they don't pay much attention to them? Haven't seen their recent inventory. But that's who I'll be buying from due to their proximity. |

How far are you from Stone Mountain GA? If I lived in that neck of the woods and wasn't willing to come to Wisconsin to get my new Buell(hint, hint) that's where I would buy. |

I've heard that people from all over the country buy their bikes in Appleton WI. Maybeit's because Buells just don't sell around there? |

I have had pretty good luck with Tilleys (Statesville) They tried to shaft me for 1/2 hour to tighten my console but the service manager didn't argue when I called them on it. If I could make the trip, I would consider calling Daves for the bike. You won't find a sales guy with more interest in the brand anywhere. |

One thing I have learned dealing with Ray Price, and it's probably true of all dealers, is that it makes a HUGE difference exactly who you talk with. They have some very Buell knowlegable & enthuastic folks there, and some who are not. You're experience will be drastically different depending on whom you talk with. In sales talk with Larry. There is another saleman thats good. I think his name is Lewis. (Message edited by jlnance on May 26, 2006) |

I usually drive pass COX's HD/Buell Have you had bad experiences there? A friend of the g/f's sister's husband's brother owns COX and the friend was telling me they have an award winning service dept. I was, at the moment wishing for an award winning service dept, so I called them up and talked to them. They are no longer a Buell dealer, but the service manager told me the techs are all Buell trained and they could still work on them. |

I know its a bit more distance, but I have nothing but good things to say about New River Harley Davidson - Buell in Jacksonville, NC. You should at least call them, ask for Tracy in sales... In fact the tech/service/parts people and attention has been so good with my Buell... "out-f*cking standing"! That I just bought an 06 night-rod this past week. The experience of TRYING to buy a bike, it's night and day compared to other Harley sales people I have run into. All good. Notably they level of bullshit talking to Tracy is NONE. Yes or no answers in my experience. Tell him what you want! Seems to do as much as he can to get you a good deal! Only thing is I've had such poor experiences with even just trying to talk to some Harley sales people, that I would pay more just knowing he's not going out of his way to rip me off. He and that entire staff takes time to answer all of my questions whether I’m buying something or not, and did before I purchased even one bike from them. All my other experiences with Harley-Buell shops close by or closer is that ANYONE but a sales person has been helpful Good luck! |

Wow, it really is who you talk to. I live on the coast (Atlantic Beach) and have been to most dealerships either along US 70 or I-40. I had a real bad experience at New River HD and even worse at Ray Price. I was totally ignored at Shelton's in Goldsboro. HD of Greensboro was the best of all the dealerships I've been to in NC. Talk to Jimmy in Sales - tell him Jason from Atlantic Beach recommended you deal with him. He rides Buells (he's even got an old tuber) and LOVES putting others on a Buell! So, it really seems to be a matter of finding the person at the dealership who is Buell-savvy. Good luck! A real biker doesn't care WHAT you ride, but THAT you ride!!

Thanks Clown, pics would be great. I have actually been wondering what that combination would look like. Where exactly are you located? I can always justify a road trip if the price is right. |

The drive to GA isn't bad. Several from C3 just went to Suches, GA where the 3%er's and Stone Mountain HD/Buell hosted March Badness. It was a great weekend and the guys/gals there were great as well. (Message edited by Ulywife on May 27, 2006) |
