I just bought my new XB12Ss, and the owner's manual states an idle speed of just over 1k. Mine seems to like idling at 800-900. Is this "close enough"? It came from the dealer this way, but I am wondering if the tech there set it up to idle low to "sound like a Harley". I am sure that I can adjust it, per the instructions in the manual. I guess the question is, should I?. Thanks for any advice! P.S. I am LOVING this bike! I just want to treat it right, dig? |

Yes definetly she needs it...looking straight in towards you intake scoop..to the left is a idle adjuster knob....adjust it slowly when the bike is HOT. After about a 25 min ride.. I think your probaly right about the tech trying to make it sound like a harley...lol |

That must be the speed they adjust Harleys at. At the 1000 mi. check they adjusted mine the same 900 rpm. I also noticed them checking the oil level while holding the bike in an upright position, instead of on the stand as per the manual. |

Keeping the idle on the high side helps keep the engine cool by circulating more oil through the engine. It will also keep the combustion chamber happier! |
