I just bought my new XB12Ss, and the owner's manual states an idle speed of just over 1k. Mine seems to like idling at 800-900. Is this "close enough"? It came from the dealer this way, but I am wondering if the tech there set it up to idle low to "sound like a Harley". I am sure that I can adjust it, per the instructions in the manual. I guess the question is, should I?. Thanks for any advice!

P.S. I am LOVING this bike! I just want to treat it right, dig?

Yes definetly she needs it...looking straight in towards you intake scoop..to the left is a idle adjuster knob....adjust it slowly when the bike is HOT. After about a 25 min ride..

I think your probaly right about the tech trying to make it sound like a harley...lol

That must be the speed they adjust Harleys at. At the 1000 mi. check they adjusted mine the same 900 rpm. I also noticed them checking the oil level while holding the bike in an upright position, instead of on the stand as per the manual.

Keeping the idle on the high side helps keep the engine cool by circulating more oil through the engine. It will also keep the combustion chamber happier!
