Anyone see a problem with doing the 1000 miles service with about 820 miles on the bike? It's an xb12, thanks.

No problem at all
I would rather see them early than late

I did the first fluid change on Kandie's XB at 170 miles
Doing it again tomorrow with 1300 miles

Oil is cheap

I did my 1,000 mile service at 700 miles. It's close enough to 1000 and I'll just do my other service at 5,000 miles as I switched over to Synthetic for all my fluids and was told theres no need to swap the fluids in between that time especially with Synthetic. That's why they're factory recommended that way. Switching in 300-400 miles is pointless IMO.

I changed my oil the instant I got home after picking up my bike. It had 68 miles on the odometer. I changed it again (& the primary oil) at the 150 mark. I just wanted to get all them shavings out. I'm not sure if it really helped or not but I know it didn't hurt : )

I didn't change the fluids again until the 1000 mark. Then again at 2500 then 5000 etc... & I continue to change it every 2500 miles

On edit: I didn't switch over to syn until my 2500 mile change.
