okay so i have the lsl's on my bike now, and Al at American sportbike just got me some frame pucks which i think are the way to go. my question is has anyone ever slid/crashed on the lsl's? how did they hold up?(bike and slider's) i've heard all the bad things they can do to the motor mount/primary cover but most have been due to tip overs and such that i have read. just looking for some good information/opinions on them. i will remove them this weekend as i don't really care for them but wanted to hear your thoughts before i do. maybe keep them both on? | ||

There is no "vs" when it comes to frame pucks...you MUST HAVE THEM..if you dent your frame, you will most likely need a new one, you cannot compromise that area. I don't know if your LSL's are axle sliders or frame sliders that mount elsewhere on the bike. The axle sliders are very good to have, because they protect your vulnerable swingarm and even the front forks. But denting your fuel tank is BAAAAAAAD, so just keep those frame pucks on no matter what. You will not regret having them if you ever have reason to need them. | ||

I don't like the way the LSL sliders look - makes me think that the mounting points are vulnerable to being torn out in a crash. The stick-on sliders have got to be the best of all worlds. Before they came out, I had talked to Al Lighton about molding up almost exactly the same thing. I'd use the factory sliders and E-Bay the LSL's | ||

Angelwild327 i do have both front and rear axle slidders from dark horse, the pucks are going on the bike no matter what, i think they will work best for protecting the frame for sure. i think i will ebay the lsl's as you say Slaughter i was just curios if they would add any "extra" protection or would they add to the breaking of thinks in a crash? | ||

thanks Angelwild327  it is the D.E.I. black wrap and then i used the DEI HEADER WRAP SILICONE SPRAY (black) on them as the wrap is really dark greyish. the spray has a hard shell feel to it and is easy to touch up once the wrap fades out.(usually last 1/2 season) i use it on all my bikes. | ||

My buddy had the LSL frame sliders on his bike. His girlfriend was newer to riding and ended up dropping the bike in a slow city turn going about 5mph. The slider saved the frame from damage, but broke the front motor mount. So, it saved the $$$$ frame at the cost of a $$ motor mount. The pucks are the way to go. Do your self a favor and take the LSL's off your bike  | ||

I dropped my XB9SX parking it.Broke the right peg,right turn signal and front brake lever.Thanks to the stick on frame slider my frame wasn't dented.I caught my foot underneath the moto but was able to wiggle out.I was using regular slip on boots,ankle hurt a few days.Bottom line,frame pucks work and wear riding boots every time you go out. | ||

damn .. my rear axle is so cut up now, shdn't be long b4 i need a new s/arm. definitely need rear axle sliders .. any prefered ones used by u guys? thanks. | ||

I'm recovering from a high-side on my XB12R. (Bonehead maneuver on cold tires) Bike slid several yards on factory frame pucks. I'm sure they would have saved the frame except the front brake lever broke off and speared right through the center of the right puck putting a nasty dent in the tank. Sato axle sliders saved the swingarm and fork. I took a bit more damage than the bike. | ||

Firebolteric_ma, I do tend to think the LSL could break the mounts. Hook one of the spools and it's likely to tear the mounts at a pretty low speed No doubt they'd help in simple tip-over but I think you're probably better to off-load them, use the stick-ons and get some axle protectors. That being said, I've crashed my bike a bunch of times without ANY sliders. Each time I tell myself "You REALLY gotta get protection before the next time!" Do I have sliders yet??? Noooooooo... I've got dents and scratches every place I'd consider trying to protect now anyways. | ||

thanks guys! i took them off today. bike looks better now to.  . id do have axle sliders and w/ the frame pucks that should be more than good. i guess i didn't need much convincing as i didn't really like them. appreciate your opinions |
