so i got my scoops today. they are made of fiberglass and are very light. they come with the grills which must be installed. need to get some epoxy. they come delivered in a primer white finish. i painted mine with some DEI silicone header paint. i think they "even" out the bike now. they look pretty sweet also. so what is your opinion of them?

they took about three weeks to get them. took a week for Trojan to get them to his place, then about 11 days to get them across the pond. they cost a total of 238.00 shipped to my door. they only took about 5 minutes to install them.

They look good. Have you been able to tell any kind of difference in the amount of heat/fan running/etc. to help some of us justify the price?

THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS!!
plugs- that is NOT the pooper pod, it is the F.A.S.T. SYSTEM. the difference is this system ACTUALLY works.(test proven) i just got the air scoops painted & installed last night, so i drove into work today and the fan seemed to run less but i can not say for sure as the temp was a little cool also. i will have a better idea of the performance of them in the next couple days. i bought them more to even the bike out on both sides. i will watch for fan operation now but i really never paid much attention to my fan before, if it was running i thought all was good. i'm sure once the temps rise some around here (been in the 60-70's lately) i will have a better idea if they actually work better than stock scoops. but it will be just a hunch as i have no data before them or after. so i guess it will be all opinion on my part for now. i plan on getting some good riding done in the next few days as it has been raining forever(10 days at least) on the east coast. plus i have direct link showing up on friday and want to get that installed and test ridden. my bike runs waaaayyyyy lean as it is now. direct link should clear this problem up. Al at american sportbike hooked me up w/ the direct link, man does he know buells or what! i always learn something new when speaking w/ him. THANKS AL!!!!

Though I'm not a fan of the look, those certainly even out the looks of the bike. Good job! Your bike looks great!

I like them very much.
Can't wait to hear if you find them to be effective.
Might even get a set for my new scooter.

Unlike the other rear scoops, this one looks like it will work with a side mount steering damper

thanks Gentleman_jon, i think they definately would clear a side mount damper as they are low profiled for sure. i'm planning on getting the lsl one next as i like the way it is under the tripple trees.

Nice aesthetics, but they probably won’t flow as much CFM as the bigger scoops.
The one thing that always confused me (Being a fan of symmetry, And I am running the right side scoop), is why, if they are starting from scratch with a design and not working from an existing mold, How come they didn’t make the scoops more symmetrical??
Seems to me it should have been easy.

Firebolteric_ma, Thanks for 'trying' these out for us!
I liked the idea and brief view of them from the Trojan site, but am now sold looking at your pictures.
A definite improvement, looks smooth.

Maybe an OEM design for the next Buells?!!

Rfp69 i would think the exhaust has something to do w/ it. where did you get your scoop? looks more circular than oval. maybe it is the angle of the picture?

Firebolteric - Man, you crack me up. Those scoops do look awesome, but how can you be worried about symmetry when you have those LSL frame sliders on there? Look at the third-to-last picture you have posted. The scoops are now symmetrical, but now there is that goofy post sticking out of your engine mount. Not dogging, just find it humorous

i totally agree with ya. they are goofy to me too. never really liked them,(good for hanging helmet on though) to much off centered for my taste, a friend gave them to me.(figured something is better than nothing..maybe?) i have a set of frame pucks to go on this week, just need to get some of the buell frame paint. should be good to go after that.

I have to agree that those sliders look a bit whacky. Also, do you really run that bike without the airbox cover and just a K&N breather hanging out like that?

Visions of Mad Max dancing in my head.

You know what though? It's an individual event and if it makes you happy then drive on with your bad self, brother!

Cheers,
Chuck

i drive the bike just as you see it. looks naked to me that way. streetfighterish. i can't see any reason to put the tank skin back on, unless it is going to rain. it does not have an airflow problem that's for sure.

Firebolteric_ma, did you have the option to purchase only one scoop from Trojan? I have an email in to Matt, wondering if they sell the two new styles of low-profile scoops individually. prices on their site are for a set.

you can ask him. i don't know really. i just assumed you need to get the set. but then again we all know what happens when you ass-u-me...........on another note i was out ridding a few hours yesterday and i only heard the fan come on a couple times. i think they may ACTUALLY help w/ cooling. it was somewhat cool out but i was beating it a little harder than normal on my favorite twisty. it has some good straight aways also where i would open her up. for the cash they cost, i do like them VERY much.

i'm sure the nice weather will get here sooner or later. got a break from the rain for a couple days but it is back again. i'm going to build an arc soon. been raining like 2 weeks here on the east coast. flooding everywhere. maybe pontoons on the sides w/ paddles on the rear tire and i can start to ride once again...i also thought about them heat shields also. last year my thigh was HOT when ridding for sure. almost blocked the hole w/ duct tape one day it was burning so much..

I love the whole "sans the airbox" look.
I'm just wondering how many people have looked at it totally confused, trying to figure out where the gas tank is.

it does get some odd looks everywhere i go and yes they do wounder where the gas tank is. i tend to like the street fighter look w/ this bike. like to be different (that's why i ride a buell ) i got cought up in the "bling" factor over the winter and started buying some rizoma items from Trojan and next thing i knew the whole bike was a rizoma poster bike. they make some nice stuff and i do like it as nobody around here has a bike similar to mine. my next project is working on the nitrous system for it. i'll have twin bottles under the rear tail and it will purge out of the rear gun pegs. just adding a 10-20 horse shot but with nitrous on a bike 10-20 is a good amount. i just need to make up some rear brackets for the bottles when i get a chance at work. that should bring the torque value up a few more buell ponies
