I wondering how many of you guys have experienced burning out your tail light bulb after riding on the rain. I lost mine after every rain storm or any time the streets were wet. I cludged a fix, but am curious if this has been a common issue with Xbs. | ||

No problems here but have only been on wet roads a handful of times in the past year. Do you have a S or R model? Mine is a S. | ||

did you use di-electric grease on the socket/blub? MB | ||

Yeah use the di-electric grease. Also, I bought one of the LED bulbs from eBay, company called clear alternatives. I have not had a problem yet, and they warranty the bulbs of defect or burnage. Jerry W Des Moines, IA | ||

no problem with my city taillight blowing in the rain. i've rode my bike in some seriously nasty shite before. Dmextreme - i've heard that if the lighting is not factory original with LED bulbs and you put them on, you will have issues with it. can't remember were i heard it but why would you want the expensive LED's when the stock filiment bulbs work good. | ||

R model - The problem is not an electrical short, but contact of moisture with the warm glass of the bulb. Bulb cracks or shatters. The only time I don't ride is when there is ice on the rode. My current fix is a bit of form-a-gasket around the lens, but this is not real elegant and I haven't had a chance to really test it. We had pea through softball size hail last night and I was really fortunate to already be home when it hit. | ||

Get an LED copy of an 1157 bulb. It's about $5. to $10., but will last forever. |
