I just like the look of both headlights shining at once. Does anyone know of a way that you could rig something up so both would be on while on dims. |

I run my switch half way between low and high beam most of the time. It's the same effect has the "passing light" function, but without having to hold the button down. No problems running this way in over 5000 miles. YMMV. |

do you just kinda put there and it stays, or have you modified it. |

It takes a little practice to find the "sweet spot," but the switch stays just fine once it's there. I haven't really felt the need to modify the switch since this seems to work fine for me. |

I guess the S version is different than the R version in this aspect. Kind of odd. |

Another brother recently mentioned that it only takes about five minutes to remove the switch gear from the left handlebar, and then bridge the clearly visible terminal of the high low switch with a blob of solder. I tried this myself. Piece of cake. What happens is the following: 1. In the low position, both lights are on: in other words, low becomes high. 2. in the high position, one light is one, not sure which one. 3. The bright light indicator light in the instrument panel stays lit all the time. No ill effects after a month of using the bike this way. If one is worried about the electric load on starting, one can switch to one bulb only. I just leave both on, except when riding in the back of a pack at night. With the PIAA bulbs, I can finally see the road at night.
I must say, I really like the way the bike looks with both lights on, don't you? |

Do it the right way and just re-bulb and wire it. That too is a piece of cake. |

Your bike looks great with both lights on, I really need to look into doing this. On a side note it looks even better without the stock mirrors on there... |

This is how I did it on Uly. Lamps are tied together. Low beam runs through 3 .2ohm resistors. High beam runs through diode so high beam indicator works normally. Only have to cut 2 wires yellow and white. Here is a schematic and a couple pictures.

I just cracked open the switch bridged the wires so that on high beam both lights come on along with the standard high beam indicator light. On low/dip just the normal single light comes on without the main beam light and the headlamp flasher switch illuminates both lights from dipped beam. Not ridden much at night like this but a few months regular daytime use hasn't raised any issues with heat. Instructions to do it were found in here somewhere I think. Silly idea having only one illuminated when you have two so I may do it properly with H7's like Research has. |

I put a scotch-loc between the wires, inside the fly screen, both lights come on with the switch on bright. |

Sits in the middle just fine for me. although it would be nice to just go ahead and rewire it. |

Rich, Can you give a photo of the wires involved for the scoth-loc and the placement of that? This seems like the most simple re-configuration. Thanks. |

if you want to do it the right way.use a relay behind the flyscreen. ther are four wires in there for the lights. power, low beam , high beam, and ground. hook 85 to ground, 86 to the highbeam. 30 to power and 87 to the low beam. thet will keep the lowbeam on all the time, so they are both on when you go to high beam. that way you still have a single low beam. and you are drawing the power from the feed for the lights so you dont have any extra load. and no effect on the high beam light. hope this helps. |

After Reading this post I've tried the switch in the middle... I've rode today with both lights on and today and tonight for a good bit.. No one flashed me for highbeams.. I have PIAA in the my housing.. I even asked my buddy coming back from the local bike night.. Do my lights look too bright.. He just said isn't that the way they are supposed to look.. I'll do the switch thing until I get a chance to wire it.. I tell you what I'm going to drive with both on day and night from now on.... |

i converted over to (2) h4 bulbs, with actual high and low beams...piece of cake |
