OK here we go Doon and I are leaving my place(albany) around 9am(sound good to you patrick?) We are heading down the taconic(i'm not familiar with that road cause i drive commercial trucks)Should get to bear mtn at the latest 12 noon.....may be there earlier. Any of you Buelligans that are on the way and want to join us let us know where we can meet you guys...I know i've talked to a few of you downstate boys but i can't remember whos who. Poughkeepsie usually takes a little over an hr for me to get to.....so you guys that want to meet up on the way can figure a time based on that.If no one meets doon and i then we are heading straight to bear mtn..WE planed on meeting at the scenic overlook on top of the mtn....how does that sound to the guys that know the area?? I will also leave my cell number....please take it down and call me if you don't find me up there. Any other thoughts or suggestions please post them on this thread or pm me.......my bike is still without exhaust studs....i hope to have them replaced by this weekend Bob 518-376-9181 |

sounds good to me. Don't worry about the Taconic, I drove it almost ever weekend for 4 years during college. Might take a bit of a shortcut to get there so we can avoid the toll roads. |

The top of perkins? Is that the little parking area near the bridge? IE on the side by where 202/9D meet? Or is that someplace else? Hmm. google maps show it some place else. Never been up there. So over the bridge, down 9w, up seven lakes to perkins? (Message edited by doon on May 08, 2006) |

I will be on my way home from a 4 day COG rally in PA that day. I'll be passing bear mtn on the way home so if I am not too beat up from all the riding, I may stop up and say hello. |

perkins drive is the lookout at the top of bear mtn. do not stop at the lodge, continue on up the hill (nice winding rd) to the top then turn onto perkins memorial drive and go to top. watch your speed in the park, not too heavily patrolled but lots of hikers and bicyclists on weekends that tend to be in the middle of the road. |

Doon, Seven Lakes wont get you to perkins drive. Head to Bear Mtn main entrance. Pass the lodge as Mike said and continue up the Mtn. once you are near the top there will be a sign on your left for perkins drive (sign is right across from the road) follow that right to the top. Too bad I wont be joining all of ya, seems to be shaping up to be a damn nice turnout. Mike, I'm good for Wed. night ride give me a shout that morning or late afternoon |

Hammer/Mike thanks. Once I get down there the GPS will get me where I need to be (or at least close ). |

Ditto on the bicyclists. Real nice decreasing radius near the top that for some reason always has a either standing in or peddling right in the middle of it. Someone post some pics when it's over. ALSO.... if anyone is going the 218 or 9w route be carefull of the POLICE. Increased patorls on the weekend due to some retard meeting the guardrail at 90+ (estimated). Bike skidded to stop about 280-300 ft down road after bouncing off the guardrail. |

Yeags, if you want to meet me in Poughkeepsie that would be good. You should be here around 10 or 10:30 coming from Albany. We can hook up on route 9. Any preference on where? The Dutchess diner would be a good spot, Its a few miles south of the Mid Hudson Bridge. |

That should put us at the top sometime around 11 or 11:30. Depending on traffic and which road we take to get down there. |

I know where the dutchess diner is. Right near the Mall, opposite side of the street? We could easily meet there. Best way coming from Taconic would be down 44/55 and then down 9, would you say? |

Yeah Doon, Thats the place. And 44/55 would be your best bet. So we can plan on meeting there around 10:30, Then we will be at the top or Perkins Mem. Drive by 11:30/12. |

Oh, and I just got a helmet cam. So I will be recording the whole ride. A large turnout would be much appreciated. |
