OK. I have the full racing version fairing on the way and I will need to cut holes for the headlights. I was thinking of mounting a different set of headlights on the bike. I've found various types of mini fairings available and was thinking of pulling out the lighting assembly, creating some custom brackets and integrating it into the fairing. Here is one that I'm looking at. How compatible would the XBR headlight system be with an aftermarket lighting system?

SHould be pretty easy to wire up if you are up to speed on your dc wiring. Adapting that headlight arrangement will require a new lense since the curve is different from the r fairing and some fiberglass work to adapt the mount. Is there enough room/how deep is that light? or will you have to rearrange the electronics to make it fit? Could be challenging. |

The company (http://www.acerbis.com/p107_headlight/p107.html) makes several different designs that I'm looking at. That one may be a bit too vertical to integrate in a decent manner. Some of the smaller ones may work better. I'm reasonably comfortable with my DC wiring. Much more comfortable with my fiberglass abilities. What I plan on doing, depending on the light I choose, is kind of box it in. This way, if the light sits in a bit on the bottom, etc., I'll blend that in by creating a lip or whatever is required. Depending on the one I go with, I may even be able to integrate the plastic surround of the original light into the fiberglass. I'm thinking the Diamond version may work the best.

sounds good, kind of like "frenching" in antennas and taillights. I think the second one here would look good and require far less work. |

Just a hint, those lights SUCK for light output. They should be used for asthetics only IMO. I have tried them on numerous "dual sport" machines (dirt bikes with aftermarket stators) (tagged KTM's to run Enduros) and they aren't as good as the factory unit with an aftermarket bulb. They aren;t adjustable if I remember right too. That said, they look cool as sh!t. JMO here take no offense please. Stack a set of PIAA's and you can burn the midnight sun. |

I hadn't thought about the practical use of those lights, but I'm sure you're right. Weren't there a pair of Hella's that I've seen mounted on a lightning somewhere that kick serious butt in the lighting department? And there are always various HID lights too. |

Lighting output is one of my concerns. I'm sure as you say that output probably isn't that great. So far, about 90%+ of my driving has been during daytime hours, but I know it's that other 10% that is the concern. I was also looking at one of these Lighting might be a little better:
