As long as it is fuzz you should be ok. If there are chunks then it need attention.

A fuzz of it. Your trans plug will always have some fuzz on it.

That iron fuzz seems to be bits and pieces from the clutch plates, primary chain, sprockets, and the like.

I'm always happy to see it on the magnet, otherwise there would be a lot of it building up, collecting in the low spots, and accelerating wear on things like gears and bearings.

My problem is that it is difficult to wipe off the fuzz from the drain plug.

I can use a papertowel but the fuzz just gets moved around due to the magnet. I can never clean it off 100%.

Sometimes I wish the plug isn't magnetized so that I can just easily stick a piece of magnet on the plug. When it is time to clean, I just pull of the external magnet and everything comes off EASILY.

How are you guys cleaning off the drain plugs?

I just wipe off what I can. If a tiny amount it left I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Just work it to one side and squeeze it with a rag, or use a bigger magnet.
