i have a 2003 xb9r
had a low speed spill in loose gravel on blacktop that somehow punched holes in my primary cover and clutch cover and ripped off my shift linkage and pedal.
My parts quote is $340, and i'd like to save the $150+ in labor the shop will charge me. how difficult a job am i looking at? the parts guy at the dealership thought the primary cover replacement would be most difficult. i appreciate any advice.

should be easy if you have a manual and can handle doing a
clutch cable adjustment, a primary chain adjustment, and a
assembling and adjusting your shift linkage.

Be very careful to use blue lock-tite and check the torque on
the crank shaft end bolt while you have it open.

Not to bad. Do you have a Service Manual? One will make the job 10x easier.

Blue lock-tite is for fasteners that you don't want to back out at inopportune times.
Like shift linkage bolts. lesson I learned the hard way years ago.

Brian, I thought the crankshaft nut called for RED(#271) locktite?

yes it does. I mentioned the blue for incidental fasteners because it is easily overlooked.
The procedure for the flywheel sprocket bolt has a clear spec for the red locktite so i
figured that was a given, like oil, gaskets etc. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Trying to help, honest.
Looking back at it I ran 2 thoughts together with the torque specs, and then the locktite.
they are supposed to be seperate and distinct thoughts.....d*%n punctuation.

I'll blame it on a faulty keyboard...that's the ticket!
