I have a 2003 xb9s and was wondering if anyone had put pilot powers on an 03. I was concerned with clearance between the tire and the belt guard. Also, I have a race ecm on order, when I asked the dealer what they would charge for a tps reset they told me $108 / 1.5 hrs. seems high to me. Can anyone recommend a scan tool that will allow me to do my own tps reset? |

My dealer did the same thing. I ordered the Technoresearch VDSTS for American Sportbike. I just installed the race ecm and a Jardine and did the reset. Easy if you read the PDF file that is on the install disk. Takes longer to hook up the cable than to perform the reset. Nice being able to perform your own maint! |

I second the VDSTS...I also got it from American Sport Bike. You can take your time and get it done right. |

isn't the software and cable for direct link cheaper than vdst? Also do you need the programming "key" to reset tps with D-L? |

$105 for a TPS reset is highway robbery. It's a 5 minute job. It costs more time to invoice it than it does to do the task. I'll do it for free for local customers. IF you have already bought the $249 key for doing remapping, then the $99 DirectLink is cheaper. But it will only to the TPS and AFV reset for the ECM that the key is slaved to. And DirectLink won't run without a key inserted. If you aren't doing remapping, than it's cheaper to buy VDSTS, and you can do as many Buells as you want with VDSTS. It is a more full featured diagnostics package. |

Thanks Al. I just thought I might have gotten a good idea for a minute there. |

Lots of XBs running around with Pilot Powers, should be no clearance issues as long as you stick with the stock sizes. |

Get the Pilot Powers. They work marvelously on the 9S. Plenty of stick, and compatible with the XB's handling attributes; a happy track tire to boot. Stick to the original size, and all is well. |

Thanks for all the info, as always this board rocks. I was thinking of the technoresearch scan tool. I work on cars for a living, I guess I'm getting a taste of how some of our customers feel. Once Again Thanks, Dave |
