I replaced failed rear wheel bearings some time ago but at the time couldn't do the fronts. However unpleasant sounds and interesting handling over the weekend suggested that the time had come to deal with the front wheel too. I removed the front wheel and the bearings were shot. however I also removed the belt tensioner pulley and the bearing in that is also gone and in fact the outer race seems to be cracked! Has anyone else experienced this problem, and do I have to replace the entire pulley or can I fit a new bearing? does anyone know the bearing reference? |

I see you have the 03 model. Any chance you had the recall done on your bearings or are they the original? It's easy to tell. The new style ones are orange seals. Old style were I believe black. |

i helped a friend out and had the belt tensioner pulley bearings pressed out for him at work. he then got some new quality bearings and i had them pressed in. fairly easy job w/ the correct tools. i would bring them to a machine shop if you don't have a press. hope it helps you some. |

Oh dang, I'm sorry, I skimmed your post and thought you were asking about the bearings themselves. Not about what was required to replace them. Darn. I'll go beat my head on a wall now. |

Do you ride year round? Is there a corrosive element (like salt air) involved? how is the bike stored? All of these things along with maintenance, axle tension and belt tension can cause bearing issues. Just food for thought. |
