OK, I got all of the bolts out, backed of the primary chain tension adjustment bolt, and took of the shift lever. What about the clutch - what do I need to do with the clutch. Also, the geared shaft for the shift lever is still in - does that need to come out - if so how? Thanks!! |

The black rubber boot forward of the header pipe has the barrel adjust (long hexagon piece) and above that is the jamnut. Loosen the jamnut all the way to the top, and then turn the barrel adjuster all the way up. This will give you more than enough cable play down in the primary. You need to pull the 3 bolt cover on the primary cover then. Pull off the nut and spring, loosen the screw clockwise until you can get the nut off which holds the thing that holds the cable on. Pull that out and disconnect the cable. the shifter spline is installed from within the primary, you're good if you have the shift lever off (don't forget to watch the shifter seal, otherwise you will have to replace it). I think that about covers it. Sorry I am about to fall asleep so I might have been a little vague on some of this. After all that is said and done I hope you have a service manual. There is a proper sequence to put the primary bolts back in for proper torque. (Message edited by sik_s on April 23, 2006) |
