So I figured out how to remove the plugs in my XB9R. Well While I was inspecting them. I noticed the front plug was really black almost fouled. while the rear plus looked, well, ok. Is this common? also I was told to replace them with NGK Iridium plugs. Any oppinions? | ||

If one of your plugs fouls 99% of the time it's the front. The NGK iridiums have gotten good reviews and resist fouling. | ||

Or you can try the denso IXU24 iridiums, I run them and work great. | ||

Daves has the Denso Iridiums. I got them from him, and they work great. | ||

A warning on the NGK iridiums- the set I used had aluminum caps at the top which siezed with the terminal end of the spark plug wires, requiring destruction of one of the wires to remove them. Fortunately the dealer was still open and had a plug wire in stock, but the trip to the store and fighting with the wire added nearly 2 hours to the time spent working on the bike. The NGKs caused the first plug related problem I've had in ~40k miles of Buell riding. I had coated them with dielectric grease prior to installing them, perhaps anti-sieze would have helped? NGK Iridiums have my vote. I use them and no more fouling, and they are still clean, I check them when I change the oil. But, it is all a matter of opinion. Jerry // Iowa | ||

Is that the plain jane iridium or IX, and what heat range(s) for a 12R (if F and R are different)? |
