Is there any special extraordinary prep work that needs to be done other than the usual steps for painting plastic? |

Call your local paint store and ask them about adheasion promoters (I use Bull Dog) And maybe a flex agent if you are really worried. |

Also if you search, a few badwebbers have dyed the plastics to promote new colors. Also somthing to check into. Good luck! |

I shot paint right on top of the plastic without primer. Paint will stick to the plastic as long as its roughed up enough. I used SOS pads with the blue detergent on them to scrub all the plastics. It took off all the oil, dirt, etc., and roughed it up enough. I have had the paint on for almost a year, and it is holding up fine. |

I sanded my right side scoop smooth removing the molded in texture then I applied a Primer made for plastic, then I applied Buell textured metalic grey frame paint. Cleaning the grease and oils off real well with dish washing soap before the primer step. It worked great and now looks like an extension of the frame and just a little different than anyone elses XB12S so far it is wearing well, 2000 miles here in Colorado Sun. We are a little closer to it you see. Good Luck |
