Is there any difference between a regular S model and a Low model other then the seat and rear shock? I was wondering if the forks or pegs might be different? |

Fork legs are a smaller diameter too - not just shorter spring and damper so lower yoke is slightly different too I believe. |

you would need a 2003-2004 lower tree |

To make sure I understand correctly, the top tree is the same but the lower tree is different? |

I found a dealer trying to unload his 2005s and a XB12SL is all he has left. So I was wondering what it would take to switch my current S parts to the new bike, then sell my current S as a Low. |

Thanks Mark, that was helpful. Now here’s a good one. I was talking to the HD salesman an hour ago about the Low and he said the engine on the Low was mounted differently! I know the only thing worse than a HD tech is a HD salesman, but I thought I’d mention it since I don’t build the bikes. |

Low forks are 41mm regular forks on 05 & up models are 43mm. Regular forks 0n 03-04 models are 41mm. So if your bike is an 05 or newer, you will need to change the lower triple. Don't forget the kickstand like I always do If you swap suspension, you need to swap the kickstand as well. The low shock & forks are stiffer to compensate the height difference. According to my manual, the preload setting for my weight on a 12Scg is 4 1/2 lines front, 4 notches rear. On a regular S it's 4 lines front, 5 notches rear. |

So since I have a 2004 XB12S I should only have to swap the forks but no trees. Thanks, All. Good info. If this happens, I will measure the forks, just to make sure. |
