Well, I had to drill holes for this one, so I'll pose it as a major mod. ;)

Ever since what I will simply call "a certain point in time", I've been wanting to call a bit more attention to the fact that my brake light is indeed "on". I bought an LED'd license plate frame, but never did get around to putting it on as I never really ended up feeling it would look right on that sexy tail end... (PM me if you want it...)

Ran across some super, duper, bright LED "step lights". Ordered one to experiment with placement, and found a real keen-o spot. On the inside of those side reflectors so many of you are in a hurry to get rid of:

For what it's worth, here are pics of the wiring and the said holes. I used some rubber grommets to seal things up...

I ran a bead of hot glue around the wire and light casing to fill a gap where the wire entered. I'm kinda AR about those things...

...and viola', you'd never know they were there

Action photos.

They throw off a goodly amount of light. Enough that I think they'll be effective at night if for no other reason than that things that are out of the ordinary get attention.

Take this, as with all things, for what it's worth... Maybe it's spure some other ideas.

Oh, and don't forget to make fun of my garage floor dust chicken strips. ;)

Nice job, good info!

I added a "Back Off!" flasher to my M2 but I also want too brighten things up a little bit more too.

Since I added the Back Off, a touch on either brake produces four quick flashes and then steady lamp on as long as the brake is applied. I think I've noticed that it seems to catch the attention of tail gaters better in close traffic.

I've also ordered a solid state flasher relay from American Sport Bike and am going to start working on getting some brighter LED lamps in the turn signals and tail and brake lights.

Nice, I wired up the "high beam flasher" on the left switch houseing to make the break light come on. Yeah its kinda dick but if somebodys on my ass i can give it a quick flash Vs. tappin the real break.

I got one of the led strips from aerostitch's web site.
http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Stopper-LED-Brake-Light-p-16981.html
I mounted it to the lower 2 license plate bolts. It lights up nice and bright too, not quite as stealth when not in use though.

Every bulb on my bike is halogen. It can be a little pricey, but its worth being noticed when it counts.

nice job midknyte.

I did have all blue led pods on my bike and a strip..

Once I get my clutch fixed, I will show the locations..

It looked great.. specially at night.. man people staring.. i love it.. yeah thought about neons.. but instead I got the LED tube and pods.. I am more impressed, and of course, less power demand from LED's than the neons..

Looks good bud.. Great job.

Jerry

this is what I did to my turn signals.. they are offset in 45 degree angle.. well.. u can see what i mean when u look at the pic.. bright.. very bright.. then I bought Al's LED turn signal flasher.. works great.. daytime and nighttime. No problems.. not DOT.. but, when the police behind me.. they're not pullin me over.. so I guess all is well..

Pictures don't do it justice. For Sure.

I have the same LED 'Step Light' strip with red globes stuck to the top of my license plate lamp housing, hooked up to a 'Back Off' flasher unit.
So both my Brake Light & the LED strip flash 5 times quickly before going steady. Definitely gets the attention of following drivers.
