http://www.kdfab.com/typeone_xb12s.jpg Damn, the above pic looks too good. Black Lightning with black rims. The photo-shopped pic almost did it for me, and now after seeing this pic from the Drummer exhaust site, and I must have the XB12S (probably Ss)with the black rims. Here's what my dealer is telling me (2006 Lightning Long): 1.They'll throw a full race kit in for me. 2.They'll swap the gold rims for black. 3.I'll pay close to list price. Other dealers wanted nearly $1,000 extra for the black rims and installation, these folks are swapping 'em for me and keeping the gold ones. Decent deal for all this? |

You can tell the difference between the Ss and the S easily by the length of the rear fender. The other models have a very short rear fender and the Ss has a longer fender, covering close to half the rear tire. An after market race kit from Dave is about $600 for the bike. MSRP is $10,500 for the XB12. Dunno how much wheels would cost you though if you bought them seperately. |

Sorry, Shea... the "decent deal for all this?" wasn't to ask you how much you would pay, but rather to say that my dealer will sell me the XB12Ss at list price, or $10,500 (with race kit and black wheels) and to ask if you thought that is a good deal. $10,500 & tax. He'll then throw in the race kit, and swap the gold for black rims. About $1,400 to $1,600 worth of goodies and labor thrown in if I pay list. Works for me!} |

Well Gaz, my reply to your post was to show you what everything would have added up to had you bought the bike and bought everything yourself. Not to be a smart ass, but I am sorry that I assumed I had to spell it out for you that it was a good deal. You bought a bike at MSRP and had 1400 worth of parts put on the bike for free. Yes, that is a good deal. |

Sounds pretty fair to me. I did something similar with Lakeshore Harley North of Chicago when I bought my bike. I got them to through in the extended warranty and give me a price that would include taxes for just under the list on the bike. They worked with me untill they got it to a couple hundred under the list including the warranty and taxes and for being such good sports they sold a bike that day. |

Word, Shea. Just got our wires crossed. I can't wait to join your club. My FJR is sold, and I'll go do the paperwork for the Buell before April 15th, while they still have the 120 days no payment/ 90 days no interest deal. |

hmm... i've been quoted $8500 otd + tax for a new 06 xb12 lightning. No race kit or wheel swap, but it doesn't seem to cost another $2000 between the two |

Thanks Robino. Maybe I'll ask for an extended warranty too. |

I know Daves can get you a great price. I doubt that he would be the type to try to swoop in when you are already dealing with another dealership, but I'm sure he would give you a quote if you ask him to. Check the sponsor section for Appleton HD and Buell. I know he can tell you how much the warranty, wheels and etc... are worth to the dealership. That knowledge alone will tell you what kind of deal you're getting. Dave will be straight with you, and if he can beat the deal I'm sure he'll help you figure out the shipping or meet you half way with it. There have been a couple of stories on the badwebb about Dave driving some distances to meet his cutomers half way. Plus accesories are 15% from Dave if you buy a bike from him.
