I managed to to do a fairly clean job, by that, I think it looks OK. Not as clean as a proper catch can, but it serves the purpose. I just tee'd the vents under the air box, ran a piece of 3/8 inside dia hose to another tee. At the lower tee I used a piece of clear tube with a brass drain kock. To keep it from rubbing, I forced a short length of 5/16 inside dia hose around ribs of the brass fitting before I stuffed in in the clear tube. The vent was placed on the lower tee and I routed that up between the frame and the front cylinder. The zip tie is loose enough to slide forward to empty the tube, yet tight enough to hold it in place.



To plug the holes in the lower air box where the old tubes were, I found a couple of rubber plugs in my junk box. I have no idea what they were for! The bottoms of the plugs are about 1 1/2 in dia, so when the air box draws a vacuum, the plugs should be drawn up for a tight fit. They also fit tight in the holes.







It's somewhat ghetto, but what the hell.

Hey Dan,
Looks good ... I wd. just keep an eye on it , the only thing I see might be that you are taking two 3/8 vent breathers and T`ing them into one 3/8 reduction in size,same as the vent going up with "one" 3/8 vent line verus two as stock, might not be a concern though, I think I may have taken the two 3/8`s down to a larger T say 3/8`s to a 5/8 or something along those lines and then drain in a larger hose as well as the vent going up to a larger hose... Having said that who knows all may be fine...What the $@#% Do I know LoL... Nice clean job just the same..

I thought of teeing the top into a 3/8-3/8-5/8 tee, but I couldn't find one. I was lucky I was able to find what I did....Home Depot only has 10 foot rolls of the clear PVC...I have 91/2 feet left if you ever need any Chris! The whole set up cost me $13.33. And if I gained 1/4 of a ftlb from it, it's money well spent!
I just got back from a short ride and the mouth of vent is wet, it was spitting a little. There was about a tsp full of mung in the clear tube. I can't believe moisture like that was fed into the airbox. EPA and all that aside, that can't be good.
I'm wondering if a small k&n style filter would make a difference. I might see if I can grab a cheap one up and try it.

How come you're not out today?

Dan - So that brass fitting at the end of the clear tubing is open to vent the breather? I can't tell for sure.

On my M2 at idle I feel a slight pulsing at the end of the discharge tubing. Maybe the way I'm using a small filter for a oil trap will give you some ideas. That has been working okay for me.

you need some place for the gas to vent out of that rig or you'll have a big mess on your hands.
Your crank case will pressurize and finds a weak point to vent out of.
You need a K&N style 3/8 vent filter teed in above the catch tube.

No. That is the drain. I used 2 tees, one under the airbox to join the 2 tubes and one you can see in the picture. The right hand tube with 'Made In USA' on it is my vent. It runs up between the front cyl and frame.

Ahhh, I got it now. A low point drain. Maybe a small disposable gas filter on the end of vent line will trap some or all of the oil fumes then. They oil will collect on the filter element and then drain back down eventually.
