I was perusing the local newspaper classifieds and ran across this ad "2003 Buell XB9S, aftermarket pipe, extras, $4200 obo" Thinking it was a typo, I call to verify, $4200 for an '03 Buell, can't be true. I call, young lady answers the phone, says "Yep, the price is correct, but I won't be in town until next Tuesday. (this was last Thursday). So today, grab the young guy that works for me to go look at it, thinking it must be beat up/high miles/scratched beyond belief/etc. We pull in and it's sitting in the driveway idling (the little voice inside my head is saying, hmmm, looks good from 40 feet) Go up, knock on the door, the young lady comes out and says, I didn't get a chance to ride since last week, so I wanted to make sure it started because it was in the shed (30 degrees out today) I do the cursory walk around, notice the factory race pipe, really nice black plastics, the yellow rear shock, the low cut seat and think to myself, YES! it's mine. An XB9Scg with a race kit. I strike the deal, yes I did get it for less than the asking price, it seems that an envelope full of Ben Franklins speaks pretty loud. The whole time the young guy that went with me is eyeing the bike. He just bought his first bike, maybe 4 weeks ago, a '92 CBR600F2. He's been drooling over my '04 XB12S since he came back from Boot Camp for the National Guard last fall. On the way home, we stop off at a legendary hot dog shop for a couple o' dogs and he keeps saying that it is a really nice bike and that I shouldn't let him sit on it. Anyway, we get back to the shop, unload the bike and start it up inside the shop....Ahhh, music to your ears. He gets this BIG grin on his face and says, STOP IT! So I turn it off and say, OK, go ahead and push it back to the back garage door where I keep my other XB. I leave to go run an errand for the business and he calls on the cell, "It's mine, don't sell it (I bought it to resell) I called my dad as soon as you left, he checked insurance prices, they weren't that much higher than my CBR rates, I WANT IT!" So I owned the bike about 30 minutes and we'll soon have another happy BadWeb'er. He knows of the BadWeb because of all the stories I pass along. Maybe, (need to check the schedule) we'll catch part of the BratPak II ride. My work schedule doesn't permit going to Homecoming this year. I just missed the Appalachian Ride last fall, I bought my bike a week later, so I'm hoping to hook up with a few other Buelligan's sometime this summer. My shop is infested with Buelligan's, Tq_Freak also works for my while he is attending Penn State/Altoona. He looked me up on the "stick pin" map. Tq has a XB12S also. It feels good to pass on the incureable(sp?) "disease" of Buelliganitis, it is very contagious. Dan |

It's always fun to infect the unsuspecting. I'm definitely contagious. Ask Gearheart, and his wife Tadja. |
