Is anyone running the Pirelli Scorpions on their XB12R? Heres the situation...... I have an 04 XB12R and my girlfriend rides an 05 City X. I feel more confident throwing her bike into corners on the Scorpions as compared to mine with the stock Dunlops, however I noticed at high speeds of 90mph and above the handling and stabilization is nothing compared to that of the XB12R on the stock Dunlops. In short, her bike handles awesome under 90mph, but anything over that my XB kills it. So I was thinking when the time comes to change my tires, I was wanting to go with Michellin Power P's, but am having second thoughts about going with the Scorpions. Thoughts? Bueller, Bueller..... Do you setup the CityX suspension for your weight when you ride it? If not, this might be why the handling goes to s**t. I dont have an issue above 90 on my CiytX. I love the Pirellis. | ||

I have the Pilot Powers on my CityX and I am very pleased. I burned off my scorpion tire so it gave me a reason to get a new tire.. had to bring it to the wife.. haha.  | ||

Ditch the Dunlops.The problem stems from the triangulated profile that the Dunlops have. Your Buell is already a fast turning machine. That tire profile is great for the track, but in my opinion you would be better with the Michelon pilot powers or something of the sort. I currently run the Scorpions and I like them as well. | ||

I love the Scorps on my City X. Rode the Gap and other roads with no problem. Never felt the tires give one bit. | ||

I have never liked Dunlop Tires. If you are losing stability over 90mph, I suspect that the front and/or rear preload is not setup correctly for your weight. I would also double-check the tire pressure. | ||

I had Pirelli Diablos on my 04 XB12R and loved them. I thought the stock dunlops were squirrelly. The Pirellis just felt like nothing, short of the hand of God, could make them break loose. I run them on all of my sportbikes. | ||

I think thats just how the S is I have a 12S and I agree that over 90mph the S is not entirely stable. making sure the suspension is set up as recomended in the manual helps, I know that when I set the rear preload down to the bottom from 3 it got realy unstable at high speeds. its a short bike and I belleve the riding position on the R helps the most with high speed stibility | ||

Could it be the lack of wind protection on the X that makes it feel unstable to you above 90pmh? | ||

I have done 135 on the cityX. granted was fast as crap for a 2 lane hwy.. Was still amazing, can't wait for the time I can get to try a track day. at the time I had the scorpions on, and to be honest I didn't think I had a problem at all. Everything felt fine. and no shutter in steering or the brakes. I am very pleased with my purchase.. as far as the pilot powers I just got, I don't know, that is yet to come.  | ||

HA! Can't ride on my Scorpions at 100mph anymore Beachbuell...OR my 9sx for that matter..damn speed racer...you'll have to settle for my lowrider scg with those OTHER tires on it...I'll get my scorpions back though..!!! | ||
