inherited a x9bs last week, found about trade value this week, prolly have to keep it. is there some air box mods (holes/remove) and exhaust mods (drill holes _____) that can give some more oomph without $$ outlay? without fuel mapping/lean issues? my wife's virago, just drilled ~6 holes in end of stock muffler, opened up, could hear it, much more enjoyable. V-rod can go "topless" (remove airbox lid) and V-mod (cut out OEM muff) and gain several HP. wanna get some more snap out of the 9, did a search on here, but i really can't figure this forum out. |

You can cut up the airbox, and if you want to make a difference in the exhaust you could take it off and gut it. The exhaust is a bigger deal, but you can get better sound out of it. Just don't expect much in a horsepower gain. Other than that you can chop the cheese grater as far as looks go. I would say for the airbox just buy the $65 open airbox kit and pic up a K&N when you have another $60. Probably even better to do it in the opposite order. |
