Well, I did the 1000Mi Break-in maintenance... Some observations.... The new helix cut tranny is sweet and obviously built to a higher standard than the old straight cut geared masher... After I warmed up the bike to op-temp I soon drained the fluid and noticed that; gee, unlike when I changed the primary fluid on my old 03 XB9, the drain magnet held very little metal shavings/debris.. In addition, the primary chain tension was still within spec (1/2” play - cool)… FYI- the Formula + primary fluid looks like 15W-50 motor oil both in color and viscosity… So it looks like using Synthetic ATF is out…. I plan to stick with the Formula + for now… I’ll let someone else be the Guinea-Pig on finding a synthetic equivalent… I plan to stick with using Mobil 1 15W-50 for the engine. That has worked well for me for 3 Buells so why change now…. |

Did I accidentally get an 06 tranny in my 05 city? Mine shifts just smooth as silk. I can't imagine it getting any better than it is. Bob |
