Assuming that i get these black plastics I want so badly and am hopefully getting  I want to get my wheels powdercoated black... how much would something like that cost ya think? | ||

Just look around your area for a powder coater...It cost us between 50 and 100 bucks to get a set of rims done here.. Larry | ||

Don't forget the cost of new bearings for front and rear as well as the mounting hardware for the rotors and rear sprocket. | ||

The heat when they bake the coating ruins the bearings. Tech manual also says to replace ALL the mounting hardware for the rotors and sprocket. One time use only. That is why I went the paint route. No new bearings but I did replace the hardware. ($70)   | ||

If you have a bearing puller, couldn't you just pull them out and then re-use them? As long as they weren't damaged then I wouldn't see why not. Then just press them back in. | ||

Buell_892, I just finished doing mine and it ran me about $500 all said and done. It ended up a bit pricey because I special ordered my color, however, I would definitely look into finding the hardware at a place other than a harley store. The bolts for the rotor and sprocket are just over $5.00 each ($30.00/set), so I dropped $100 just in fasteners, I'm sure you could find them elsewhere for a little less. Also, I ran into the problem of the aluminum bubbling a little due to the wheels being cast, from what I hear this is a fairly common problem. The bearings should be replaced. But the result can be sweet, at least I am happy with mine! Buelltastic  |
