before i get the smack down i have posted this in the Vault just noticed that this board gets a lot of traffic. I bought a new 04 XB12R recently for reasons that didnt turn out to be good ones, instead of just ordering and waiting for an 06 then getting the custom work done i hoped getting one off the floor would be quicker so i could ride it during my to short vacation home, live and learn. Needless to say i have yet to ride it and my question is should i just go ahead and replace the 04 belt now or wait until its needed? I plan on breaking in the bike in late March and taking it to a track day in april so if this is something i should do i want to have it done before im back home and wanting to ride. thanks in advance Tim (in Iraq) |

Just run the one that is on the bike. I put 9000 easymiles on one and had no issues. |

I put over 20,000 really hard miles on mine, put on a new one at 24,000, snapped it on the dyno at 26,000 and now have the 06 belt. |

I have 24,600 miles on my belt. 05 XB9SX. Just going to keep using it until I feel like changing it. |

I got 7,000 really hard miles out of my 04 12r's first belt. I have the 06 on it now. I wouldn't change it till you have to. |
