Anyone interested in changing their black plastics to Hero Blue Translucid? I'm looking to swap my airbox/flyscreen with someone for black, I figured I'd give this a shot before I paint these. Thanks. |

Sweet, Reduc....with the black frame/swingarm/fairing, I like the blue box. But I'm looking for more black. |

I have, since the sx came out, thought that the X on the air box cover should be available as an aftermarket part. A little bit of automotive trim adhesive and you're set. Makes for a more stable and secure tank bag, as was the intent. Great idea, unfortunately they don't make R body- work in "translucid" colors. Can't someone get a few made in solid colors? I know that Court and some others have close ties within Buell. Dibs on white, or even just the rubber "X" I can take it from there! |

The rubber X is my favorite part of the cover! |

I wish they were available absolutely transparent - This way you could paint the inside (like they do with the polycarbonate bodies for RC cars). |

Dew, talk to Al @American Sport Bike. He might be able to make something with the X molded in even. Just a thought...... |

Thanks Odie, but I'm really just looking to obtain a black airbox & flyscreen without having to buy new....and was hoping someone out there wanted the blues (X included!) |

Clear plastic painted on the inside. Now there is one of the best ideas I have heard in a long time. This may be as revolutionary an idea as say,,,, fuel in the frame! No more torn up paint! |

Metallic? Are you saying he offered metalic colors? Is it blended into the Line-X or is it painted after being sprayed? My nearest Line-X guy is in Ranch Cucamonga and I am thinking he might give me a deal if he thinks it is going to bring him business. Going to have to go check it out today. |

Paint is blended into the product, then a sealer is painted over the finished product. I am going to see samples Monday! I believe I am also gonna get a discount based on it bringing future business in... |

I am waiting for him to get back to me on a firm price. He verbally quoted under $300 CDN (~ 225 US) for all four pieces. Airbox, flyscreen, chin fairing, front fender. That is for the custom color and taping off the Buell letters so they appear embedded in the Line-X |

I used Linex in my truck bed - they did colors for a couple hundred more than black but the dealer said they don't recommend the colored stuff. they fade and wouldn't garantee the color - MB |

Don't mean to hijack the thread here, but since the topic of color changes is already being discussed I thought I would add my question here instead of starting a new one. How difficult is it to swap out the tail section and front fairing to get an XB12r from one color to the other. I'm looking for a used bike and all I can seem to find are red ones. Like Dew, I'd prefer black. |

It is not hard at all to swap the plastic out. If you have tools and the plastic on hand you could change it in less than 30 min. |

Mb182 I am thinking Silver for the linex as I am sure fade would be not very noticable with that color. Black also fades and can get chalky looking. They have sealers and treatments to prevent that though. Plus at under $300.00 for the entire bike Who cares? I will likely drop my bike before fade out is a consideration. Of course the next question is how easy will the line-x come off when it comes time to re-shoot it..... |
