I would like to fit something a little more aesthetically pleasing, and possibly more effective than the stock Buell front brake master cylinder "box". Has anyone fitted a Nissin or Brembo, or other make like this Brembo on a Ducati Supersport. I don't want to spend a fortune, and I need one with a brake light switch. |

"aesthetics" is in the eye of the beholder. To me that set-up is no improvement in looks but if you like it, that's what counts. |

please post findings here I was looking into this mod not too long ago. from what i could tell, I think you may have the most luck with an R1 assembly. after that you can replace the plastic reservoir with an aftermarket one. |

yoyodyne sells Brembo radial master cylinders that will work. Not sure about the brake switch (Message edited by kenneth on January 23, 2006) |

Pepi, That is one lovely setup. Got any details on it. Looks expensive, but maybe that is just the mirrors. From what I have been able to find out so far, Brembo makes a nice competition unit, for over $300. Nissin makes a nice one, for about $150, has the brake switch, I think that may be what is on the R1 that Stealth was talking about. I will post pictures and details if and when I get one installed. Anybody else got any ideas? |

Jon, you don't have to limit your choice by brake light switch. Goodridge manufacture a universal in line pressure switch that sits right in the brake line at the cylinder connect. Costs about £12 over here. Rocket |

Thanks Rocket, I will check it out. The competition units are drop dead beautiful, but then they make the clutch look dowdy, so you could end up spending a $1000 on handlebar "jewelry". Too much for me:-) |

well, the nissin costs about 200 euro and works quite well with the single disc, oil tank is a rizoma about 50 euro, also had to change line but its ok! (Message edited by Pepi on January 24, 2006) (Message edited by Pepi on January 24, 2006) |

Pepi, Did you do the install yourself? What was involved? Did you have to bleed the brakes. I guess if I changed the lever, it would be a good time to change the brake fluid too. |

Hey there Gentleman_jon, that's not just a lever he changed. That is a radial master cylinder (nissin) with remote reservoir. Definitely requires bleeding (the brakes) after install. The bleeding of the wallet comes before install |

Gentleman, yes i did it, it naturally need to refill the line with oil and bleeding, i used a vacuum pump... Stealth, from rizoma i got only that reservoir, but i was thinking to get aluminum grips, got any experience about them? |

No experience with the grips. I guess I should not have used such a blanket statement. This would be more accurate: I have had 2 of the guys I ride with state the Rizoma tailsection and rearsets do not fit properly. |

Ok, I can't keep this a secret for much longer. I've toyed with the idea of the CRG set-up, and I like both the brake and cable clutch operating levers and clamps etc they offer at CRG, but I keep dreaming of something a little more unique. Unique? I mean they use CRG stuff in Moto GP right. How much more unique can one get? Well, I have a penchant for things Swedish, so here's my secret. Ever heard of ISR Brakes SE? You have now. I've been looking at the Racing Radial master cylinder set-up with a universal wire clutch lever to match. Finishing touch would be the handlebar clamp switch assemblies. Please keep this fairly quiet on the board won't you. Jon, the Goodridge pressure switch is actually a banjo bolt with a switch at one end, and it's more like £16. Rocket |

rocketman that is some sleek stuff. I'll have to investigate price and availability of those here in the US. I had been looking at the brembo radial front, but those integrated switches are an elegant solution to the need for switches on a street bike. |

Rocket, Your secret is safe with me. Can't vouch for the other brothers, though:-) The parts are killer cool. Maybe just a wee bit too high style for an old cheapskate like me: you know one thing leads to another - next it will be billet foot pegs and so on. Anyway, I haven't seen any used on eBay:-) Thanks for the post. |

I read recently in Performance Bike that the Racing Radial M/Cyl, be it for clutch or brake operation, has a set price of £250. That's for everything you see. Lever, clamp, m\cyl, the full nine yards. £250 is a bucket load of money, but that is still way cheap for that kind of equipment. A front brake lever, yes just the lever, for an RSV Mille or a 999 is around £80! Rocket |

Thems sure pretty! I personally am gonna stick with the stock levers as the thought of bending/breaking one is just scary. In 1.5 years I have had my bike tipped over three times.... once it was backed into in a parking lot. Once came home to find it tipped in the driveway (kids trying to sit on it neighbor says). One low side to avoid getting hit head on by a driver in my lane. Hell I am scared to repaint the thing! |

Sky, you think I'm not scared either? I'm always falling off! No that's not true. I did fall off last year though, popping a short wheelie in a car park. The front washed out when I brought it down quick and hit the brake as I was running out of road. Amazingly, non of the levers broke. Yipee!!! You're right though. That won't always be the case. Never the less, that Swedish handlebar bling is just to irresistible to ignore. Once in a life time.................once in a life time..... Rocket |
