Guys/gals, I looking to by a XB9S and called Progressive to see what the premiums would be. They quoted $556/year! I was very suprised! I am, ahem, over 40, no accidents, no claims, no tickets of any kind in the last 11 years of riding motorcycles. Is this in line with what you guys and gals are paying? |

On a M2 22 y/o No tickets in the last 3 or 4 years $540 a year. It was $410 but they passed some law so they had to raise every ones bike insurance. |

I pay about 600/yr on the X1. No claims either. Progressive was the cheapest out there. I think 40 year olds pay high rates for reasons of mid-life crisis syndrome which is equal to the mentallity of a 16 yr old who just got their license.I think it also applies to anyone who simply buys a Buell. |

Call: Universal Underwriters Insurance Co. Recreational Products Insurance Division 7015 Collage Blvd. PO Box 7992 Overland Park, KS 66207-0992 1-800-238-2446 RPIUUG@aol.com My Buell M2 was something like $320 per year, full coverage, $500 deductible. The Triumph Sprint RS 955 (as in, less than 1000 cc's - just like the XB9x) is $237. More important than that is that they treated my son and I VERY fairly when we chrashed our Buells. Dealing with an insurance company is never actually plesent but, in context, this company was very nice and earns the Ray Maines four star recommendation. Please post and tell us what they quoted you. |

I got Nationwide on my side. Under $500 a year full coverage at age 27. They don't cut any slack for cycles though, I have my house and two cars thru them too and still don't get a discount on my bike, but they do cover all of my extras at no extra cost as long as I have the receipt. |

Progressive quoted me $1831.00 (one year) for a XB9R with the following minimum coverage (matter of fact, I'm not sure Arizona would accept the minimums I selected). BTW, no tickets, no wrecks and no claims filed. The quote includes discounts for motorcycle association, motorcycle safety course discount, homeowner discount and lower rate for being a old mature driver. Primary location ZIP code: 85018 Model year: 2003 Make: BUELL Model: FIREBOLT XB9R Engine size (CC's): 984 Bodily Injury / Property Damage / Guest Passenger 15/30/10 (in thousands) $162.00 Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury 15/30 (in thousands) $80.00 Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury 15/30 (in thousands) $64.00 Medical Payments $1,000/person $86.00 Comprehensive $500 deductible $295.00 Collision $500 deductible $1144.00 Roadside Assistance No coverage $0.00 Custom Parts and Equipment $0.00 $0.00 Cheers, -JW:> |

Hey, No wrong button Justin, I live in Arizona. On the average I pay approximately $500.00 for each bike I own (full coverage) and that's for 6 months with State Farm. You should see the rates for the rice-rockets (if your under 25) in Arizona. BTW a 2003 Hayabusa will run ME $2,282 a year for the minimum coverage, that's only $205.38 per month! Primary location ZIP code: 85018 Model year: 2003 Make: SUZUKI Model: HAYABUSA Engine size (CC's): 1300 Coverage Information 2003 SUZUKI Limits Premium Bodily Injury / Property Damage / Guest Passenger 15/30/10 (in thousands) $177.00 Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury 15/30 (in thousands) $107.00 Underinsured Motorists Bodily Injury 15/30 (in thousands) $86.00 Medical Payments $1,000/person $93.00 Comprehensive $500 deductible $371.00 Collision $500 deductible $1448.00 Roadside Assistance No coverage $0.00 Custom Parts and Equipment $0.00 $0.00 Cool, -JW:> |

My XB9R costs me $196.00 (full coverage)a year through Harley (Universal Underwriters) Insurance. I thought it would go up from my ElectraGlide but I was paying $235.00 a year on that. The agent said the Buell is considered a Harley and not a sport bike and the rates are based on engine size. Progressive has never given me a good quote, I dont care what their commercials say! BTW, I'm 36, single, with no tickets. |

Guide-One Insurance is where my Blast is insured. They took good care of me after my Feb 2001 crash and even lowered the rate the next time it came up for renewal. $250 deductible Progressive treated the Blast like an X1. Huh, what's up with that? The key for all of us in procuring insurance: shop around |

Hey Jim, You should give Arizona Insurance Agency a call. I have a X1 and I am only paying $240 every six months for full coverage. A salesman at Chandler Harley told me about them. |

You might try Dairyland/Sentry if it is available in your area. 1-888-DAIRYLAND For full coverage in Ohio: BODILY INJURY LIABILITY 100,000 PER PERSON/300,000 PER OCCURANCE GUEST PASSENGER LIABILITY 100,000 PER PERSON/300,000 PER OCCURANCE PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY 50,000 UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST 100,000 PER PERSON/300,000 PER OCCURANCE MEDICAL EXPENSES 1000.00/50.00 DEDUCTABLE COMPREHENSIVE AND COLLISION 500.00 DEDUCTABLE (INCLUDES $3000.00 WORTH OF OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT) TOWING & ROD SERVICE EXCURSION DIVERSION (like AAA for a motorcycle) I pay $552.00/year for my 1999 X1. The 2003 XB9R would be $570.00. These include a discount for a rider course and belonging to BRAG. Thirty years old, single, no violations in the last 5 years, outside of the city limits. I believe in being overinsured, to reduce to the Ohio minimums; 12,500/25,000, (these are the motorcycle maximums) it would only save me 25% and uninsured/underinsured would drop off, it's the biggest need in Northwest Ohio. I do 100+ MPH to work and back during the ridding season (weather permiting). And I pass a State Trooper once a week. I just wave he waves back. Plus it helps if you don't act like a squid. |

funny you should mention that my car has ARESTME on the plates.... legal fees and retainer would have to be included on my insurance cost breakdown...due to the fact that it is directly related to my insurance rates. No I will not slow down.... |

Captain, $1000.00 deductible? I hope you mean $100.00! If you go down there goes a years worth of ins. money on your deduct! Jim, I'm glad I don't live in AZ, I had thought about it but you just changed my mind. Shazam, I don't know about everywhere else but 90% of the local police ride here, one of them lives two blocks from me and runs the stopsign (on his bike and in the cruiser) in front of my house repeatedly. He knows I know and thats all I need to know. Most of them know who I am and where I live so if they were going to bust me it wouldn't be hard. They mostly go after the same two boys with machines built to kill. The one goes past my house at at least 150 mph. I cringe and wait for the sound of crunching metal everytime. I like to ride fast, but not thru a rural neighborhood! Spiderman, That trooper might be the same one that got my cousin's husband on his Ninja when they lived out there. He's just waiting for you to dump it so he doesn't have to chase you! |

I thought those premiums were pretty cheap even considering the conversion to Canadian Funds. But really they are a bit on the high side. Up here the bikes are rated based on value. A $10,000 bike will be about $1000-1200/yr Canadian and this gives you $1,000,000.00 Liability coverage. Our med expenses are also at $25,000.00 with no deductible. Of course coverage also varies from province to province. I just keep liability, medical benefits and uninsured motorist on mine and last year it was about $222.00. Interesting topic. |

Yeah but a $1,000,000 Canadian is like $10,000 American. |
