I chopped and ground a stock tailpiece, milled some flats for the stock signals and sent it off to Kevin for final shaping and paint. I also designed a stainless license plate bracket which Kevin fabbed up for me. I think it visually shortens the XBSs which is what I was after. I've been bugging Corbin to fab me up a stepped seat which will further add to the aggressive look I want.

Looks great! If I were to ever get bored with mine...I frame grayed almost everything...I'd do that. A touch of color on the back looks nice and balanced. Good "vision" I talked to Kevin about that color match, and he was right, looks spot on to me too. Good job to both of you. Tom ps. to look even shorter, I'm still working on maybe swapping the whole tail end for a short S model's. Stay tuned... |

Steve, looks like you've been busy over there. I still need to talk to you about the pipe and possibly the catch can as well. I've just have been busy at work, finishing up one site and starting a new one. And getting ready for the big ski/snowboard trip next weekend, has been really tying me up. Give me a call when you can. Rob |

Tommy - The color match is perfect. Kevin did a good job. Rage - The license plate on my XB9 fatigued out and cracked so I know what you mean. The stainless plate holder above is mounted in the rubber grommets where the signal wires used to go through & the license plate mounting bolts have rubber washers. I'm hoping this will isolate the sheetmetal from the vibration. Old man - That's the stock Ss fender. |

Blackbelt - I did all the cutting & machining myself. I think Kevin said the orange paint and primer was about $40 (this wasn't a spray can job). I got the used tail section for $30. Add in the cost of labor for paint & prep. You are in the $150 to $200 range I'd estimate. I forgot about the stainless steel license plate bracket and misc. hardware. You should think about painting the subframe. That might look really cool. |

Drift - Kevin said the same thing. How about a black front fender to match the rear one? |

Jersey, ...Or, pick up a nice, smooth, carbon fiber rear hugger and have it painted orange to match the front. I eliminated my rear hugger/guards completely and love the way it looks all opened up..another option if you're a "fairweatherbiker" like me. The orange hugger would be good looking on your bike though... .02, Tom |

Tommy: Do you have pics up anywhere of your bike in its current state. You have changed a good amount of parts since your profile pic. |

Jerseyguy, please tell me how you "milled some flats for the stock signals"? I have been pondering this setup, but without some shaping, the turn signals would both lean inwards. The finished job looks XXXXcellent |

Capt' - I clamped it to an angle plate on a milling machine and milled some flats as parallel to the centerline as I could get them. It was tough to hold since there aren't any features on the part that are convenient to clamp it down on. Then I drilled the holes for the main signal mounting stud and the guide pin. You might do it with a dremel tool and a lot of patience. |

Just bought the same bike as you have, Jerseyguy. I already have the R&R tailsection I will mount this weekend. Is there already an aftermarket rearhugger available to replace the belt/rearhugger? |

Wim, Not sure what you're looking for, but I know at least Trojan makes a replacement rear hugger/belt guard for our Ss in carbon fiber. I think Jersey just cut the belt guard portion of his stock hugger off. I just removed mine completely. Looks great all opened up in back. Good luck w/ the new ride. Tom |

Wim - I just cut off the belt guard part like Tommy said. I bought a stock replacement hugger from Daves just in case I didn't like it chopped. Brad, Thanks. I'm torn right now regarding the stock seat. I am not fond of how it looks, but it is REALLY comfortable. |

Hey Jerseyguy- A different seat would make that bike look more aggressive. What's the word from Corbin? |

They keep promising, but nothing yet. They claim they need a sample bike for fit up and haven't found one yet. I'll probably get one when they make it & keep the stocker for long rides. They are in Hollister, CA. |

Thanks Tommy_k, I checked the Trojansite. Would a rearhugger from a xb12s also fit, so I can the complete plastic part off? Are there other companies offering aftermarket parts for the xb12Ss? Jerseyguy: can a xb12s seat be made to fit a xb12ss, or are the framerails different? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

W - The stock rear huggers on the S and Ss are held on differently. I doubt the aftermarket ones for the S would fit the Ss. |
