Since it rained all day today (in CA no less, sheesh) I decided to change my blinkers. Here is a pic of the new front blinker, from in front. More pics to follow Timbo |

This is a top view of the rear with one new, one stock to give you an idea of the difference.

And here is how the rear looks done. I like the smaller size of these blinkers and was pleasantly surprised that they are BRIGHT. I guess rainy days are good for something. Timbo |

Greg, The 55 inch wheelbase RC51 holds its gas above the airbox, not between the rear wheel and the engine as the 62 inch Vincent. It also has it's radiators on the side of the engine, not in the front like the Vincent, and it has a 32 inch or so seat height, which I'm sure is much taller than the Vincent. I think that might help to explain the 7 inch difference in wheelbase. All else being equal, a 60 degree engine would result in a shorter wheelbase than the 90 degree Honda engine used in the Vincent. _________________________________________________
Quote:You guys have a nice site. JQ, are you relinquishing your power in the club since you bought an SV? Any tip to help us in Houston get started? The dealer is enthusiastic enough but just doesn't have his paperwork in to get the club started yet.

Timbo: where are the rear turn signals from? (who makes them) I am going to order the Oxford bags and I know the the stock turn signals get in the way. Thanks for any info, Roy |

Yep, Spidey is right. Part # 122-9833. Pretty easy to do. The electrical connectors need to be changed to the next larger size, but if you have a soldering iron it's a piece of cake. Timbo |

In an ad for The History Channels "Boy's Toys", they've got a photo of the XB9R with a blurb: "BUELL FIREBOLT- The coolest American bike you can buy - fuel is stored in the frame" Could it be people are catching on? |

I also just saw that the XB9R is listed in Popular Science's "Best of What's New" Edition, the only motorcycle to be honored. |

Has anyone found an easy way to mount a radar detector to your XB9R? |

Does anyone know for sure what the XB9x headers are made of? TI? Are they coated with anything? After 12K, mine were looking pretty bad, so I got the Mother's out and cleaned them up. Now they look nicely polished, and they won't blue! The mother's took the bluing completely off, and it hasn't returned, even after a hard 500 mi. ride. I don't mind the lack of bluing, but it seems strange that it didn't take long when new for them to blue, and now they don't discolor.

Xb9, They are made out of Stainless steel. I'm surprised mothers worked so good. I have always used a red scrubber pad, the 3M type. A green scrubber pad will work too, but the red ones are more abrasive I think because they seem to shine them up much quicker and the red pads last longer too. Timbo |

Xb9, Also, FWIW, my experience with SS pipes is from my previous bike. I had those pipes on that bike for a little over two years (bike was totalled in an accident last Sept). Another thing I used to do is after I got done cleaning them up real good, I would wipe them down with Isopropyl alcohol *before* starting up the bike. This removes any oily residue left behind from your hands and will help to keep the pipes a uniform color as the shade of them turns golden again with use, which is normal. When they start to get too dark, almost brown, just scrub them down and they look great again. Doesn't take long at all. Timbo |

Thanks for the info, Timbo They did turn more golden (darker) after 500 mi. I tried the 3M pad before the mothers, and I didn't like the dull finish when I was done. The mothers really put a shine to them, although I had to work at it. The Alcohol is a good idea, I'll have to remember that. They look good again. Better than in the pics, the lighting wasn't too good. |

I put Radio Shack Super-Lock "Velcro" around and on the front of the fuel cap, trimming it so I can still remove the cap (D'oh!) To that I stick my Garmin GPS III+. Hasn't come adrift, even on some "spirited" rides on rough roads. I also ran a fused power cable to the battery. I'd take a photo, but the bike's in GA and I'm not (sigh) |

The Buells feel like a work of genius executed by a group with a vision. Something to get excited about. The Honda's feel like a great bike to ride when the Buell's broken, or while you are looking for the bike that you fall in love with (cough*Ferris*cough). "Ride, Ferris, ride!" Help! My dealer says that he finally has the correct replacement kickstand for my Bolt, but I feel a desperate need to double check the part number. I want to be sure that he doesn't give the second replacement stand that broke on other people. Does any one know the final correct part number for the final correct kickstand? KC Firebolt |
