I ordered a service manual but it won't be here for a few days and I need to get this done. So if anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it . Thanks MaTT |

stem cap (upper tree) Ok, the torque on this is 38-42 ft/lbs. No lock tite needed. You are suppose to check the stearing head bearings resistance also. I'm not going into detail on that being I don't have a ton of time right now. Maybe later. But, you can torque it without checking. Might just get some pulsating while breaking, but that's it. three pinch bolts (upper tree) Ok. The center bolt is the stem pinch fastener. That needs to be torqued to 17-19 ft/lbs. Use blue lock tite on this. The other 2 also are 17-19 ft/lbs. with lock tite blue. Now, I'm going to make myself very clear. If you over torque that area you will crack and break your clamps. Torque it right or break you clamps. You will get no sympathy from me if you do break them from not following the torque specs. Do the job right or don't do it at all. four pinch bolts (lower tree) Ok. The lower ones require a torque of 13-15 ft/lbs. with blue lock tite. Repeating myself: Now, I'm going to make myself very clear. If you over torque that area you will crack and break your clamps. Torque it right or break you clamps. You will get no sympathy from me if you do break them from not following the torque specs. Do the job right or don't do it at all. axle The front axle is 39-41 ft/lbs. Use Anti Seize, otherwise you have a bad day. USE IT!!!! Also, the front axle is left hand thread. axle pinch bolts Pinch bolts are 20-22 ft/lbs. Torque them slowly and do one, the other, first one, other, etc. Makes the torquing even. 2 bolts which hold the caliper to the fork This one is 35-37ft/lbs. Use blue lock tite. |
