I figured out the mounting of the upper fairing easy enough with the picture someone sent as a guide. In retrospect I was being a tad lazy in not figuring that on my own. In the hopes that I do not repeat that again here goes . . . Am I right in thinking that the sharkskins street lower will not fit w/stock exhaust? I may be the last guy left with the stock can, (I don't have the dough for the SS yet) - It looks like the can is too long. An whoever asked if it came with dzus fasteners - it did, but only to mount the uppers to the brackets, not to mount the lowers to the uppers, which is where I will actually need them most of the time - Lastly, whoever it was that was bidding against me for these, it looks like I got the short end of the stick. Don't loose any sleep over it - |

You can buy a complete fairing fitting kit from Hal's for this fairing. |

Sweet - I will check that out - my concern is whether the stock can will work with the street body, as a heads up for me and anyone else who is considering the change - the costs keep adding up! (big shocker eh - ) |

I can't see any reason why the stock exhaust won't fit with the Sharkskins fairing, as it isn't physically any bigger than the race kit item, and that definitely fits with that fairing. |

The problem with the exhaust is the way that the outlets are. I have a D&D and I think that the stock are similar in that they exit too low and race cans are much higher. Also, there is no provision for the side stand on the fairing so you will have to cut one out. |

we had to cut the belly pan for the street pipe on my brother's. Hal's cut the belly pan before intalling mine. There is a pic in my profile. You have to cut the belly pan anyway if you intend to use your kickstand, not a concern on race bikes. Either way if the belly pan won't hold fluid it isn't track legal. I think you mentioned something about that on another thread? fine for track days, but not racing. |

Now, I like the look of the full fairings for the XBs, I want to convert my S to one. But it does look like the fairings follow the line of the frame very well. Anyone else see that. The space between the fairing and the frame gets bigger the farther back it goes. |

Looks like I might get 2 sets of lowers - a street lower modified for kickstand, and a race lower to hold (lets hope not) oil. Crap I might as well get the race upper then too instead of using tape on the street version - Man just the briefest thought of racing and the $$$ starts adding up - And as for the fairings not following the frame so well - this whole aftermarket fairing thing doesn't compare to the quality, fit and finish that a factory can create. Buell will eventually make a fully faired bike and I think it will leave some like mine looking a bit quaint - |
