I was wondering if the SSlong subframe and seat could be grafted on to my XB9S.I was thinking it might look alright with the cheesegrater removed. |

I'm sure you could do it. Although it would not be as simple as a direct bolt on. |

Pinball, I've been sorta looking into this, but going the other way. Was thinking a short tail would look cool on the Ss. First off, I'm pretty sure the subframes, undertray, and seat would swap over. Under the seat though, for me anyway, things would get a bit interesting. Everything is a bit more cramped in general in the shorty. You, on the other hand would have more room underneath. TBC, TK |

The frames are different, therefore the subframes are also. That being said, I'm sure it can be done, it's just a matter of getting in there and figuring out what has to be done. |

Tommy - I've chopped a stock tail section and had Kevin paint it Sunset Orange. He's supposed to ship it to me this week. I'll post a pic as soon as I put it on my Ss. |

That's cool. I assume you've test fit everything first...so my ? is: What's the exact parts list needed for the swap, and how tough was it to cram it all into the shorter tail. Thanks Steve. TK |

My wife likes to go for rides with me ,but we`re teaching her how to ride this year,so if she gets her own bike ,I probably won`t do this, cause she might get my bike and I`ll move up to a 12s. I`m just not sure about the look of the cheesegrater chopped off so This might be worth looking into! (Message edited by pinball on January 11, 2006) |

Jersey, I see you posted in another thread about chopping your tailsection(grater) and having it painted. Pinball, Glitch, and I are talking about the entire tailsection...subframes, undertray, seat and all. My grater has been gone for some time now. I'd still like to see pics of it orange though. If you are talking about the entire tailend...my bad...post away. TK |

The 12SS subframe and seat will fit the previous models, as will the Ulysses back end (The subframe casting is the same for both models, the only difference is in some drillings). If anyone wants either I have them spare from our Ulysses supermoto project |

The castings are all there, but some of the bolt holes need drilling or tapping out to suit. The only major difference is that the passenger footrest brackets mount to the subframe on the SS and are part of the footrest assembly on the X, so these holes need to be drilled out. As a matter of interest, the XB12X footrest brackets will also fit the other models (I've got some of those spare as well)

How much of that Uly backend is available? Is it the whole thing, or just the subframe? I'm completely serious. If that, plus the uly footpegs can make a 2up tourer out of my 03 XBR, I'd be all over it. -Geof (Message edited by geofg on January 13, 2006) |

I hope that didn`t sound too bad, it`s hard to relay sarcasm in these posts! Anyhow I won`t be getting the parts, but hopefully a new bike. Keep us posted on the transformation geofg !! |
