Cool except it reminds me of that other company, the one that sells Christmas ornaments, cookies in a "Collectors Tin" and underwear with it's logo. I've had enough of their insidious knick-knack logo driven marketing machine . . . |

Maybe its just me but... I like to think that I ride a BUELL and not a Hardley. To each his own of course but that image feels sacrilegious to me, no HD shield or orange and black logos will make it any where near my baby |

Was thinking the same thing Charlie. Take another look at your motor. Bar and shield (although very small) emblems on the left front of each jug... Funny how someone riding a Buell could be anti-Harley. The "lifestyle" was not for me, but if it wasn't for a particular 883 Sportster, I wouldn't be riding at all! I bought it for a song, a '98 with only 1400 miles, rode it for a year, and traded it on my XB. When I was shopping for my new bike NO ONE wanted to talk to me about my trade except for the local HD dealer. The rest is history. I'm not flamin' here, just pointing out that Buell has gained a lot from the mothership, although there are those who would beg to differ. I know for a fact I wouldn't be a Buell owner if it hadn't been for HD.... |

I had one, (883) and enjoyed riding my Dad's Road King. I don't mind the company so much (except I think their VR1000 effort was ridiculous) I just don't like how something I have loved my whole life got sort of "discovered" and then kind of ruined by it's own discovery. I wanted a Harley since I was a kid, ever since I saw Easy Rider for the first time in the late 70's. By the time I could afford to ride one though, it was a whole different thing. I wanted to ride a Harley to give the finger to the man, not chat it up with my local accountant at a H.O.G. meeting, in my matching H.D. socks. I like Buell's because not only are they good, but they are different, the run against the grain of what's common. They don't follow the "rules". Owning a Harley now seems to be all about following . . . |

I think the whole history between Erik Buell and H-D is really cool. I own some gear with H-D logos and some cool T-shirts. I don't own a H-D but enjoy stopping by the dealer ship to look a the new bikes. But, when you blend the logos together it really dilutes the Buell brand, which I don't think is cool. |

yeah, i know those little logos are on the jugs, some day i'll grind 'em off believe me, i realize what HD has done for Buell, and the history is really cool, but i'd love to see more separation as Buell progresses. i'm simply just not a fan of the HD brand, image or 'experience'. it hurts my eyes to walk into the HD shop when my bike has to go in. btw, i didn't mean to bring down the post or sound super negative, just adding some coins to the mix. |

one of the reasons I ride a Buell is becuase -- its an American v-twin with that American Sound. Without the HD style engine then the Buell would be not much different than a metric bike. Most of the time when I am asked what I ride. I just say a harley type race bike. If I say Buell 99% of the time they don't have a clue. |

Without the HD style engine then the Buell would be not much different than a metric bike. are you serious? (to me..) the XB is one of the most drop-dead-gorgeous and innovative motorcycle designs i've ever seen... even if the engine was something other than an American V-Twin. i've had this thing since April (bought in Dec) and i can't stop oogling over its design... every freekin' day. Amen to Erik Buell and the design team. i'm with ya though that i can't get enough of its sounds, internal and external, but my heart wouldn't be broken if the engine was something other than HD-derived. with my Drummer on I think it sounds like its own animal. and with the peeps that ask, i'm just the opposite, i say its a Buell... no mention of Harley. if they don't know what a Buell is they will after they see it, and will know to look out for the brand again. gotta spread the word.

I ride both Harleys and Buells. I call my Harleys,Harleys I call the Buells, Buells If they don't know what a Buell is, I tell them. When I ride my Aprilia, I call it an Aprilia(want to see people have that "look" of ?????) I find it strange that Buell riders would ever call their Buell a Harley. I wonder how many Sportster riders call their bike a Buell? Buell is owned by HD Buells are not HDs HDs are not Buells My Aprilia is not a Ducati Buell should not be put in a Bar and Shield(JMO) Love your Buell for what it is,be proud of it. I am. If you want a HD get one, don't try to make your Buell into one. |

Here, here, Daves! I agree with you totally. I've ridden Harleys (883, VRSCB) and now I am about to become a Buell owner... I couldn't be more excited! I've always loved the "naked bike" look and I will be proud to ride the original American-made naked bike! I'm waiting for my CityX to be born in March... the winter is way too long this year!!!! |
