Has anyone done rhino liner on a motorcycle? Do you think it'll work on the plastics of a lightning?

I was thinkin about doin my frame before I settled on powdercoat.

It should work on plastic and if the lining ever peels they will replace it
(well that is at least what the dealer told me)

Give your local dealer a call, I think the plastic would look cool Rhinoed.
BTW they don't color match, they just have basic colors...

It sticks to anything! I know of BMW dual sport guys that use it.

Do a search, there is nice stuff (less grainy) than the Rhino Liner brand.

Have it in the bed of my truck. Neat stuff

One concern would be added weight. Most sport bike owners look for ways to reduce weight. And the weight added would be up high.

Overall probably insignificant, but just thought I would mention it

Thanks guys, I found another liner place called X-Liner also that got good reviews. The rhino liner site says they do custom colors too..

I'll check on the weight..all I want done is the airbox cover and the windscreen, hopefully it won't add a ton of weight, I think they can make it a little thinner than an actual truck lining thickness

Max..honestly, and this is no offense to Erik Buell.. but I think the blue is well..just kinda gay looking to me..so I wanted to do something out of the ordinary, and I friend suggested the liner coating..I think it would look pretty cool and rugged, even if I get it in hot pink..lol..
Don't mind me, I'm a little weird!

Wonder if you could use it on the bottom of the muffler to prevent rusting from starting.

Dang Odie, your bike looks sharp with the CX plastics!

pre uly off road xb! saw some pics of that awhile ago, airborne and all.

some of that undercoating and bedliner doesnt paint up to bad. then you could have any color you want, and do it at home for next to nothing.

OMG..cool pink fuzzy bike..not gay at all..lmao.. and when I say gay, I don't mean it offensively..

Yeah..I think it would be cheap too, since an entire bedliner costs 3-500 dollars.. I wonder if they could embed glitter into it..

I doubt there could be any fade-effect, maybe who knows..if I find someone artsy-fartsy to do it, or maybe I could just rubber dip the whole damn thing! Me likey rubber..lol
See..I have this dress in purple rubber.. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/angelwild327/dress1.jpg
Maybe I could do the bike to match

Rice ...I don't want to scare the entire board with my eccentric collection of non-work attire..like these shoes..and NO, I don't wear them to ride..

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/angelwild327/DSC00153sm.jpg

suffice it to say, I do truly own that dress, in purple and several other rubber/latex items of clothing..
I will visit the rhino and xliner shops this week and find out what they can do for me... maybe..maybe if I wear the dress I'll get a discount..lol

Wild Angel,
I met a guy in San Antonio that had done his whole M2 in spray on bedliner (black). Looked VERY tough. Haven't seem him lately, though, so I don't know if it has continued to stick. Post a pic when/if you get it done!

I had my old truck Rhino lined and it looked great when it was new. After a summer it faded to a flat black where it was exposed to the sun. That might be something to ask about before you try spraying your air box. Just my two cents.

Does anyone here know her personally? It would be really cool to have her post something here on badweb, or perhaps someone could do an email interview with her. Guess it would help to speak German.

Hey ya' know...someone who was good at sewing could make velcro changeable fuzzy covers for buells..it would actually be pretty easy, even for the airbox cover...I mean, if you men were ever in the market for fuzzy box covers..

As for the rhino lining fading, I think there's some clearcoat they can put on it..I've heard rave reviews of the X-liner, so I might consider their product first..again, both manufacturers have a shop about 5 or so miles from me..so I will keep you all posted. Hopefully they could tape off the buell logo, as I'd like it to stay out in the open!

I have had rhino lining for a while on my truck...it does fade but most plastics do this too. If you spray silicone protectant or something like Armor All it brings back the color pretty good....

Drift- I have found that I get triple the life out of all my tires if I run them backwards. Traction sucks but I save a lot of money........not really, it's on right!!! I check before I leave any place that does my tires as I have had them put on backwards. They are Michelin Pilot Powers. Love 'em. Later, Odie.

I had a buddy who had all the bodywork on his Bandit 1200 covered in rhino lining. It looked really cool against the dark blue frame.

Spike,
Thanks for the info, I'm really excited now about it. I'm thinking I might do the frame now too...maybe a different color from the plastics.
