Noface, Looks good. I did the same to mine the first week I got it. Didn't like them. They looked like an afterthought, probably due to some regulation. I see you took of the passenger pegs as well. I did the same also. Makes the bike look alot cleaner from a visual standpoint. |

Noface, What kind of back tire is that? How many miles do you have on it and do you like it? |

Well, checking over the bike today and it looks like some bolts have fallin off the bike. If something falls off is it covered under warranty? Also does anyone know when Buell is sending out the 3rd side stand for the bike? |

Hogman... looks like it might be a Dunlop D220 like I just put on the Cyclone)... Is that it noface? The 220 feels fine, as good as the D207 (or is it D205... not the sticky one, the touring one) did, and I think it turns a little easier (but hard to tell for sure). I mixed it with a Dunlop on the front, and that seems to be good as well. |

Helmet Lock: I'm using a padlock with a shackle small enough to fit through a hole in the footpeg where it stays when not locking the helmet. For locking 2 helmets I also use a short vinyl jacketed cable that Aerostich Riderwearhouse sells. It's practical & unobtrusive; the cable stores under the seat, the padlock is readily available under my boot and, for those who require a certain symmetry to their bike or who are in need of conjuring up road spirits, a small bell can be affixed to the opposite footpeg. Hogman & ReepICheep, Yea, It's a D220. I've got one on the front too. I like 'em pretty well. They take awhile longer to get warmed up, but other than that I can't really tell the difference between them and the D207's. They have ALOT more tread on them than the 207's. Which is one reasone I went with them. I like they way they made it so easy to remove the rear peg assemblies. It only takes 5 minutes to put them on should you need to carry a passenger. Which for me, lately, has been a rare occasion. I also agree those reflectors are only there to satisfy some government reg. I don't really think those stickers are gonna help Grandma see me any better when I'm on the road. Jody S. |

I just received my lower XB9S footpegs for my XB9R from Modesto Buell. Took all of about five min to install them. I can't wait for the rain to stop to see how they work on a long ride. I still have to lower the brake and shift levers, looks easy......... |

Today my girlfriend rode about 100 miles on the back of my "borrowed" Firebolt with only minimal complaint. I really think with a better seat and lower passenger pegs it could be used as a short-range two-up tourer. Does anyone know if 9S pegs will fit in the passenger mounts? While I'm at it, has anyone dragged the pegs yet? Mike L. '99 Cyclone |

...only time my pegs have ever touched the ground is when I dropped it! (hereto referred to erroneously as a "side stand failure" ) |

Spike Darth Ane did. The only problem is the passanger pegs that are in there now have a small BB and spring that's what causes the clicking noise you hear and keeps em from flopin around. Darth used rubber washers to keep his from floppin (I said floppin HEHEHEHE) And if you draged pegs on your bolt You da man. Only two people have and there pro racers. |

There's been more than a few people that have dragged pegs...though, uh, the bikes are riderless when it happens. |

Coming back from a road trip today, we were passing a dealer (I'm not sure if it's cool to post names)and the wife says let's go in and look. They are selling Firebolts for $8,495 with the 0,0,0 deal or $800 in mechandise. They had three on the floor plus two Lightnings (both black) at regular price with no deals. That makes the price difference close to $2,500. Wow, I wonder which one they hope to sell more of? They had the two side by side, and as far as looks are concerned, I like the XB9S better from the tank (haha airbox) forward and the XB9R better from the tank back (is that weird?), but if I had to choose one based on looks I'd have to choose the XB9R. I haven't had a chance to ride a Lightning yet, but I have riden a Firebolt and loved it. Timbo 72 XLCH |

XB9r Mileage Check Time: I just turned 3000 miles on my XB yesterday. Got it new on June 01. I've still got the Speed Triple and I somehow put about 2000 miles on that this year too. I hate the thought that this season is coming to a rapid close. Let's hope for a few more warm days. |

Had my bolt since Sept. 2nd . I just did the 5000 mile service. opted to go for Mobil1 Synthetic oil. Seems to rev a little quicker. Runs a little cooler as well. Warped my front rotor! too many stoppies i guess. It's covered under warranty so not too many worries. Overall i can't get enough of this bike. Ross Republic H-D/Buell Ride Hard! |

Not bad for a bike on sale less than 6 months. At 3000 mi, I seem to be the low one so far. Anyone had any notable problems or failures? Sidestand fallovers don't count I have not had a single problem. Are we there yet? It would be nice to once and for all be able to put the H-D/Buell reputation for unreliability behind us. |

I know I am not the highest mileage out there but I've got near 9K on mine and not a bit of trouble (yes I am knocking on wood or a similar looking laminate) |

XB9R Mileage Check: 12,025 mi, took delivery April 20th. Other than lots of tires, a couple of TPS sets, brake pads, oil(RP), & oil filters: 1. 800 mi. Shorted positive battery lead on starter solenoid bolt (factory assembly goof, no harm done). 2. Frt. Brake vibration due to .0375" run out on Frt. wheel, Frt. wheel will be replaced under warranty (started intermittently at 6,000 mi., is real bad at 12,000 mi). 3. 8,000 mi. - Frt. wheel bearing (left)bad - replace. 4. 12,000 mi. - Rear wheel bearings bad - replace. 5. 12,000 mi. - Primary chain adjuster - replace. Most of this stuff is normal for me, typical of every bike i've owned. I've always been real hard on brakes, tires and wheels, leathers & helmets. (ex-Motocross & WERA / CCS Road Racer). I don't baby it. IT WAS ONE HELL OF A FUN SUMMER!!! GREAT BIKE! The only thing that disappoints me is the front brake, IMHO, wish it had a conventional mount, dual disk design. |

I bought my firebolt on July 15. I have about 1700 miles on it. I know, that is not much. I should get points for riding daily though. I have only driven my car to work once, since I bought the bolt. No problems whatsoever. |

5800 miles, took delivery on June 28th. Not a damned thing wrong with it. And yes, I am knocking on my wooden computer desk. It's tucked away in the garage now, waiting for me to disassemble it and send it off to get painted...but that nagging thought, that it'll warm up as soon as I do, keeps me from it...I don't particularly want to ride the Blast around much anymore! Ijust did a road trip from atlanta to key west and back on my firebolt, around 2500 miles .now have just reached 5000miles.got my #3 side stand today.i need new tyres and brake pads i'll do that sat when i do the service.the bike held up pretty good on the freeways i had tank bag on and a large tail bag.i was crusing around 80 85mph.had plenty of power to overtake.i did get it up to 140mph but chickend out as i had no helmet on.the bike hated florida it was running realy hot, hated traffic in miami and daytona.my gears were hard to change and clunked more than my harley.i had done my service the day before i left,so was all new fluids.the bike also started very porely when hot,and backfired quite alot.i cant see why anyone in miami would buy this bike.i dont think it would be comfortable.bike has returned to normal now im back in ga.but i am going to sell it. It,s not what im looking for in a sport bike{the price is $8000 if interested}im looking at the honda interceptor.a lot more bike for around the same price. |

Sorry I can't play the numbers game with you guys. I was only able to ride my XB9R for 3 weeks. Picked it up on 10 Sep in Atlanta and then took it on a little trip to see some elves. It is now tucked away in a corner of my Moms garage. Will not see it again until maby Sep. (4500miles on it) Problems that I had with it: Seat needed to be replaced. (IT IS NOT A TOURING BIKE) Lost a bolt from the front fender. Has a wide flat spot on the rear tire (try riding across Kansas twice and see what happens). Two things I will say about this bike. IT IS NOT A TOURING BIKE It is not a dirt bike. People have asked me which bike I liked better, my S1W or the XB. All I can say is that they are comply different and I want both. SteveP |
