Wishful thinking about 160 top speed on a stock configured XB.Just what IS the top speed on my bone stock '05XB12r? My older X1 has been pegged at 140/w somewhere around 7000RPMs. That all said,i don't NEED those high numbers, when commuting i only see about 120 tops.I enjoy the twisties more. He probably just looked at the speedo and thought that what the top number, 160 mph, was the top speed. Research is your friend people.... |

At tach redline on a 9, I believe the top speed is about 137. I got mine up to just over 135 a few times when testing my Drummer / TFI setup. |

Item: Buell : Firebolt (4599540098) This message was sent while the listing was active. joemama796 is a potential buyer. Hi, I'm sorry, my eyes are watering from laughing and I couldn't finish reading your add. Did you say top speed at 160? I think you need to recalibrate your speedo, because top speed MAY BE 135, but in no way 160. LOL!! I like to keep it real!! |

No one noticed in his description he refers to it as a "sporty". "This beautiful sporty Crotch Rocket is fast" Don't know if he is refering to sporty as in sportster but I bet he is. |

My response from Mr. 160. What's up Joe: I listed 160mph as the top speed because that is what my speedo guage list. The fastest I have gone is about 130 or so, and the bike handles well and give a smooth ride Also, the Buells offers a twin muffler kit so that one can add horsepower to the bike as needed. But off the floor factory setting on my speedo says 160mph. My intention is not to be misleading, I'm stating what the bike lists as it's top speed. Thanks. |

Of course that must be the top speed, its what the speedometer says.

When I was looking for my Buell a while back I was told by the salesman at one HD shop that the XB12R would out run a Hayabusa. Needless to say I went to another dealer to buy my bike. |

The bike will do 160 the way he has it set up.....off a cliff with a stiff tail wind! Even then it would only reach terminal velocity,. about 125 mph. That is if I remember my physics classes in high school.} |

Even then it would only reach terminal velocity,. about 125 mph. That is if I remember my physics classes in high school. That terminal velocity is for the average human being in free-fall, and is dependent on the aerodynamic drag and weight of the person. A Buell's terminal velocity would likely be a little higher, so 160 MPH might not be too far off. |

The guy could be right though, I changed my muffler and also polished the front fender until it was really really shiny. If I tuck down behind the screen and wind it on I can get about 185mph, at about 3000rpm, so there's a bit to go too. I also have a VW Polo that will outrun pretty much most sports cars as it has a 1.2litre motor and special paint. Heh heh heh. |

Special paint will only get you so far, then you need to start adding stickers and a wing for more downforce on the rear. THAT should get you to 198mph. |

So if I change the speedo out on my Wide Glide to one of those newfangled digital ones, it will do 250 MPH?? That has GOT to be the best bang for the buck performance wise. Look out Hayabusa! |

My '79 sportster must also go to 150. Perhaps I just haven't found the "go wikked fast" button. It's probably next to the "don't fall apart all the time" button. |
