I seem to have acquired an oil leak somewhere above my muffler looks like it could be off one of the hoses leading tot the oil cooler, I have about 23,000 Kms on the bike I dropped by the mechanic and he said it could be that and maybe I should clean the area up with degreaser and put some thread tape on the Oil hose. Would this make sense? It looks like the oil is coming from around the lower hose I can upload a pic if anyone is interested. Cheers in advance. | ||

Mine started leaking on the engine side of the line that connects right in front of the oil filter. It was leaking between the elbow and the engine case. Removed the oil line, and the fitting was only finger tight. Removed the fitting, cleaned it all up and wrapped some teflon tape around it, put it back together, it hasn't leaked since. I think the red thread sealant would be better than teflon tape, but it was after hours and the tape was what I had at home. I noticed the leak on the way home from a 3 day trip, because the top of the muffler was covered with oil. Good luck, Bill | ||

I had the leak on my bike. I think this should have been recalled cause it seems pretty comon. In the process of removing the fitting I boke the "tin" elbo that comes out of the oil pump. After getting a new oil pump and tefloning all the lines I've had no leaks what so ever. Be careful when you tighten them. Use two wrenches one to hold it and the other to tighten it, otherwise you could break something off. | ||

Mine started this, I just tightened the fitting and the problem went away. | ||

Mine had this pop up a week after delivery so I took it back to the dealer. They fixed under warranty and there is a TSB out for the problem. | ||

I used liquid teflon to seal my leak. If you use it let it dry before starting the bike. I got to do mine twice. |
