My Grandfathers were pulled into WWII from this event which will always be remembered. One left his home in Brooklyn joining the Navy and became an aviator then sent to the Pacific, the other left Hell's Kitchen joining the Army and rolled through Europe finishing his tour in Germany.  | ||

Better yet a loud moment of rememberance, I saw nothing on CNN or FOX this morning mentioning Dec, 7th. Pretty sad. There was lots to say how Saddam dident show up for his trial though... My grandfathers were too old, their war was WWI. My father was only 10 when it started. But I had two uncles that joined, one a 2nd Lt in the Navy in the Pacific, and the other a B-24 pilot in Europe. Both are gone now, but I remember. | ||

I also noticed with regret the complete lack of coverage by the national news agencies. There was also no mention of todays signifigance in either of the local papers. This is all very disturbing to me. My Grand Father was in his mid-thirities and a father to three kids when he joined the Marines.He served in the South Pacific during WWII with landings on Iwo and Okinawa. Unfortunatlly, like so many of his brothers-in-arms, he is no longer with us. He and his generation deserve much more than we could ever repay. | ||

THANK YOU BILL!!! Until just now, I was oblivious. Thanks so much for the reminder. I had a grandfather who served in the S. Pacific too. Definitely a day we need to remember! My view towards honoring all our veterans going all the way back to the American Revolution is that we live our lives well, with honor and gusto in appreciation of the freedom we enjoy through the efforts of all our veterans, especially those who have fallen. My grandfather was too old to serve in WWII. His was the 'Great War', He was a Lt. in the US Cavalry when it started.. During the second war he was a CD commander, being deemed to old to return to full active duty. Not many seemed to remember yesterday.. I did.. Sad yes.. | ||

An excellent video. Thank you for posting it. My great grandfather from Scotland was a Sargent Major in WWII. I inhereted his wartime footlocker, which carries his name. It is among my most prized possessions. | ||

my uncle was an immigrant from Ireland, not even a citizen, died fighting in korea....never knew him died before i was born,....but always thankful for any soldier.... |
