Great bike. But what is up with the baby blue speedo and tach? Talk about not fitting the CityX (and Lightnings in general) image AT ALL. What were they thinking? What are my alternatives and how much would those alternatives cost? Perhaps a cluster from another Lighting model--or maybe an XB9R since it has the same engine? |

well, there was this thread back in september. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/142726.html Trojan-Horse offered to get them from S-F Bikeparts; but, problem is, only available calibrated in kilometers per hour and nothing in a plain clean black+white classic analog look.. There was some discussion about developing a template and rolling your own for silkscreening but i don't think the idea ever got off the ground..

One complaint on my City X The only thing I can think of is that it is to cold to ride. All I can do is give her a hug ever now and then. |

Man, if only they had MPH on those face plates. I'd buy one of them. |

I scanned my dash and played with it in photoshop - making the background black and the numbers yellow. Printed it out on heavy paper. trimmed the edges and voila. My whole bike is flat black and this was the perfect finishing touch. At night, only the numbers and the dial light up, everything else stays black. It looks really really awesome! This isn't the best picture - I used this to fight a traffic ticket - the officer claimed I didn't have a mirror! - sorry but its THERE, and I have a really great view of my ARMPIT! hehe. I'll get a cleaner picture later and post it.

...problem is, only available calibrated in kilometers per hour And just what's wrong with that? The rest of the world uses metric, guys--time for the ol' US to maybe catch up? |

time for the ol' US to maybe catch up? No, it's the USA and we're going to do things our way. Screw Metric, it's easier, more logical and universally accepted so we're not gonna do it! The last letter of the alphabet is pronounced 'ZEE' and if it doesn't get less than 20 miles to the gallon, we hate it. Hand me my gun. Hey, I just live here. I love these guys...Quirky as they may be. |

IMO I find the US system easier to read. Besides, I like filling up by the gallon vs. liter. |

The last letter of the alphabet is pronounced 'ZEE' Not only pronounced, but spelled "Z" too! After two years in Europe I got past the initial trouble with metrics (you spend a few months with no intuitive sense of measure) and really liked it. It is indeed better in nearly every way. But since gas costs much more everywhere the metric system is used, we should keep filling up in gallons. |

I'd still be interested in changing mine too. It's not blue, but I hate the font. (03 xb9r) silver with orange numbers. |
