Well i got my bike back from the dealer friday afternoon....They did a complete rebuild top and bottom, 3 pages of parts and work done..The service manager didnt really know what caused the lowerend to fail but dam they put new flywheel, crank, cylinder with pistons, Basically a total rebuild. I didnt get a chance to talk to Rich the Buell mechanic that did the work to thank him and to find out more about the failure but will in the next few days. I must say they did a great job. I dont think my bike ever sounded so good. Which makes me think i had internal problems from the beginning. I can only hear the exhaust note now instead of the all the internal noises i was use to... I want to give everyone at McGuires Harley Davidson of Walnut Creek, CA a big thumbs up... They have been great to deal with and would recommend them to anyone... I will keep you posted regarding failure once i talk to the mechanic.... For now i gotta go break my baby in. Living in Cali has it perks 62 degrees and sunny.... Thanks to every one for their help and advice.... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=32777&post=535949#POS T535949 |

norcal, i had the same situation as you, and they didnt have a clue what caused my meltdown, it was 11k trouble free miles, and then a stange loud mechanical noise. complete rebuild like yourself, im 2000 miles later, and no issues, and it does feel more solid, less noisey than when i first got her...break it in slow, and its like a new bike once again...i was fixed underwarranty, so am a happy camper....it 22 today, so i wont be riding. |

Norcal, see if you can talk to the tech to find out what they have fixed. I hope that they know what went wrong and the root cause instead of just going in there to change out everything and shot-gunned the problem. |

Nice! I'm happy to hear your dealership handled the problem just as well as mine did AND that the factory is backing their products 100%. This speaks volumes. |

And I'm glad to see how well the new motor works! As evidenced by the "had to get it out of my system" last blast, on our last ride sat! |
