**Most road racers are not big fans of NASCAR, due to the lack of right turns...But its hard to denie that NASCAR is extremely successful. Why not bridge the gap and at the few rounds that NASCAR runs road courses, field a group of 20-25 Buell XB's as a support race prior to te big tamale NASCAR Race, I know that cars and bikes are different BUT Most NASCAR fans love Harley Davidson and are Pro USA.(Harley advertises during NASCAR) Why not give them 15 laps of noisy American Thunder to wash down their first six pack of Budweiser?? Granted there is more brand diversity (Chevy, Ford, Dodge) but the cars are equally prepped, Buell XB's can be equally prepped. I may be delusion but maybe I should right a letter.... |

It's not the same as you're describing. But it is American made bikes on a NASCAR track before a race.

Thats EXACTLY what Im saying, the same fan of NASCAR is getting a chance to see custom bikes and Harley displays why not give em' a show!!! Im not saying race around the Oval but NASCAR does a few Road course races and a number of NASCAR tracks have a road course ie Loudon, Phoenix etc. that uses a section of the infield. A gizzillion people watch NASCAR, they sell out every event, what better way to promote Buell. No one Understands AMA (including the factory racers) and even less people show up to AMA races. AMA race Format is Factory Pro riders riding in the SuperStock entry level racing class on the biggest Bike you can buy, R1's & GSXR1000's. The Premier class Superbike has no factory support, Formula Extreme is a Honda showcase for modified 600's (Ya thats extreme) and to me the only class that makes sense is SuperSport (600's) but as a privateer I really dont feel like being lapped 12 times by a factory "stock" 600.... Pro Thunder was great, as my God given right as an American I WANT to RACE or watch Loud obnoxious V-Twins!!! |

Hey, now that's a great idea! It'll help sell it to the MoCo. Think about it.. A group of Buells racing (keep them stock even, so people can run right out and buy one of their own) AND have H-D's as 'pace bikes'.. maybe a couple of Dressers, or better yet, a couple of 'Street Rods' doing duty for the warm up lap etc. Keep it as 'familure' as possible to the NASCARese that will be watching.. it'll be easier for them to grasp if they see variations on what they are used too.. I too (even though I am WAY too slow for this kind of event) would be happy to help out.. (maybe I and a few others from the BadWeb could form the 'official' photo team?) |
