I have needed to change my headlight assemblies because of the dimming issue that seems to be caused by the coating coming off the reflectors (although I haven't confirmed this is the cause of problem with my lights). Anyway, I was in the Ducati dealer and happened to notice the lights in the 999 as well as some of the other Ducatis looked very familiar. I think they looked a lot like my XB12R lights. I am wondering if they are the same, better or worse than the Buells. Has anyone tried fitting them to a XBR? |

I don't have the answer to your question but you may want to check the price of the Duc piece before you even ask if it will fit? I guarantee it isn't cheap. |

Speaking of the 999R, either Cycleworld or Motor Cyclist is featuring a custom carbon fiber, all black, red tube frame 999R that is gizworthy. |

Before you buy anything from ducati I would check the price. I called for price on replacement windscreen screws with the wellnuts, $10.00 a piece for a 748. That would be $90.00 just for the screws.....John |

And i've got a bagful of those screws/wellnuts as spares. They probably cost so much because of the #4 torx socket is so small and difficult to accurately produce in mass quantity. |

The 65THOUSAND dollar Ducati is the 210hp Desmosedici 4cyl. V-machine firing each "bank" simultaneously for that v-twin torque characteristic. The 999r costs 30THOUSAND and has 100%CF bodywork |

The one in the mag hes talking about is a custom. Ceramic brakes cf fuel cell lots of other yummies. Adds 35k to the price of a 30k machine. |

I doubt you could get your hands on a Desmosedici Ducati for 65g's. If you find one for anywhere near that price, you better buy a dozen and field a couple race teams. And it's more like 230+ horse. (Message edited by 99buellx1 on November 26, 2005) |

The ceramic brakes are fascinating. They are an option on the 911 Porsche Turbo and the Mercedes-Benz CLK55 F1 this year. They are an $8,000 option, but damnit. . . when you are buying a toy, ya want the BEST which has, elsewhere, been identified as the most expensive. |

Ceramic brakes are standard fit on the MB SLK McLaren and have been since introduction in 2004. British built you see The Porsche engine is at the wrong end! Rocket |

The highbeam is pretty good on my 749R, but for some reason the low beam came adjusted way too low. Same with my friends biposto 999. The low beam seems good, but I need to reserve judgement until I get around to adjusting it. BTW Ducati only runs one beam at a time. On my firebolt, simply switching to Sylvania Silverstars (Kragan Auto) and running both beams (high beam on the switch) works pretty well. I only switch to low only at stoplights in town and rarely does anyone flick their highs at me. I also took out the little deflector spoon on the low beam... |
