Is anyone using the Power Commander on XB9's. I am going to put a pipe (jardine) on my bike soon as well as the 12 airbox. Do I need a PC? Are they hard to tune?

You don't need it, I know of alot of people running the same setup with just the stock ecm, but if you are still worried get the race ecm.

The race ECM is trouble free. Unless you have serious engine modifications I wouldn't bother with anything else.

I'm running a PCIII with the HiPerformance O2 sensor on my 9: It is stock except a Drummer, 12 airbox lid, K&N, stock ECM. It runs extremely well and you can feel that the mixture is spot on at any RPM/throttle opening combination. I couldn't be happier with it. I had a custom Map made for it on the dyno by a certified Dynojet Tuning Center. Trick is you've got to find someone that knows what they are doing with Buells.
I feel it's pretty hard to get the PCIII mapping spot-on by tinkering with it unless you use a wide-band O2 sensor and do some data logging. The $250 I spent on dynotuning was the best $$ I ever invested in it.

I tried the race ECM when I was running the same setup with a Latus muffler and was not happy with it at all - it was running rich in some RPM ranges and I could tell that the fuel ratio was off.
Keep in mind that the race ECM is mapped for the stock airbox lid, K&N filter and the Buell race exhaust. Any deviation from the stock "race parts" will result in fuel mapping that is not optimal for the map that is in the race (or stock) ECM. That doesn't even take into consideration the difference from one motor to the next in mapping requirements due to the many variables that will affect the map. I asked the guy that did my mapping if the the maps will vary much from one bike to the next (same brand model) and he said that no two are the same because of all the variables - the maps can come out to be quite different.
