Anybody having problem with so-called ceramic coating on race can, rusting? Will Buell replace this can? Thanks DC.

Not much of a coating is it?
I just re-paint mine.

It seems like the early production Race Cans had that problem and Buell revised the coating. You may want to search the Knowledge Vault.

Glitch - I just got a race can and am going to install this week. Are you satisfied with the performance? Sound? Do you think the race module is needed or will the stock module work?

I've got the Buell race I'm happy with the performance (mostly high rpm) and sound (a lot louder than stock but not too loud). It will work with the stock ecm but works much better with the race ecm. I found that with the stock ecm and the race pipe you couldn't add more air with out running lean but with the race ecm you can put on the K&N filter and an open airbox kit for even more kick.

i think my race can is great!
...but once it started to look like it might rust, I got some high-heat paint and took care of it
I think it looks better flat black anyway. : )

My race can is two years old.
Needs paint bad.
Wishing I could afford a Drummer SS: one very nice can.
On my winter project list.
The thing I like about it is that the whole factory kit works just fine right out of the box. More power, better sounds, just bolt it in and go. (After getting the TPS reset of course:-)

That Race ECM is the sheet, I have it on mine. Pretty much "Plug 'N Play."

Cochise - When you say Plug n Play are you saying that it didn't have to be reset?

I did some touch up on my buell race can. Use th 1500 degree exhaust paint, any auto parts store will have it. Use some fine grit sand paper before you paint it. Then clean it with Acetone and then soap and water.

Still needs a TPS reset when installed.

I have had my race can for about a year, and the coating is holding up just fine, in fact I was sort of amazed how good it still looks when I checked just now.

I repainted mine about two years ago with high temp engine paint. I still looks brand new today.
