I have a quick question I'am looking for a tank bag for my 12xbs that is afordible. The only ones I can find are $150.00 and up. Can some one please help me out. Thanks a million!!! | ||

i currently use the Buell brand tank bag. works ok. It is sold with a "rain cover", which when installed, such cover tends to flap around a bit at hi speeds, and begs the question: If such fabric as one would use for a 'rain cover' is available, why not use such fabric to make the article in question out of in the first place, obviating the need for an auxilliary "cover" In my case a half can of ScotchGuard before a rainy weekend jaunt seems to help some. that and keeping the spare socks in a plastic bag. | ||

I have one of these: Tour Master Cortech super mini tank bag and I like it. The only thing is the way I have it strapped around the steering head, the bag has to be on the bike. I worry that the loose straps could get tangled and cause problems. And it's a pain in the butt to remove/re-install/re-adjust the strap. The rear strap is looped around the slot for the seat catch, no problems there. Frank, Do you have some pics of the Tour Master tank bag on your bike? I have been looking at it since Biketoberfest and am thinking about ordering it. Does it fit right? Could it be strapped to the seat as a tail bag? Ken (Message edited by blasterd on November 23, 2005) | ||

I have been using a Nelson Rigg magnetic tank bag for years. I love it. It's small, yet expandable if I want to carry something bigger. I bought some rare earth magnets that I will be taping to the underside of my airbox cover (eventually gluing once I see they work well). Then I can keep using my mag bag that I've grown to love over the years. The bag cost me $50 brand new, and I spend about $20 on magnets. That's $70 total for something I know I'm happy with. | ||

Blasterd, It fits good and I don't even know it's there while riding. Got caught in the rain/downpour a couple times and did not have the rain cover with me. Everything(smokes, digicam, etc) stayed dry inside. I would imagine you could rig up some way to strap it on the back. The straps have plenty of extra length. A couple of times, I have set it on the airbox and forgotten to strap it in, and took off. The neoprene pad stuck pretty well to the plastic and the bag never moved.(oops) Here's the only pic I have with the bag on the bike: (taken by Killboy)  | ||

i went with the Cortech Tribag  it's a few bags in one...the largest bag is the one on the bottom and the smaller bag zips on top of it if you need more space. The small bag also has a zip that allows it to expand even bigger ( i guess they include that as the third option in the "Tri" ). It also has a couple of easy to reach pockets for tolls etc I use the small bag the most on its own, zipped down to its small size...it's perfect for a wallet, phone, some tools, snack etc When I rode up to Monterey for the MotoGP, the 2 bags together were fine for all the stuff I needed btw...the pic I posted shows a magnetic mount bag...it comes in a strap mount too, which I have...runs right about $150 | ||

Daves DO you need the small tank bra thingy as well or is the bag the only thing required. Have you ever seen these bags scratch the tanks, thats what i am concerned most about. | ||

I've had these bags for over 15 years and 8 different motorcycles. They still look just the way they did when I bought them and they hold everything I need for a week. | ||

Profile my username and I also have a tourmaster cortech mini strap tank bag. Like it a lot and it carries a decent amount of stuff without being bulky and ruining the lines of the bike. This is not the bag you want to have if your touring though. It is a good city bag to have extra storage room. That's it!!!! | ||

I have the Buell tank bag and love it. It's very secure and doesn't seem to scratch the airbox cover. However, there are two part number for the two bags and the correct number is critical! The old style bag will cover the air intake on late Buells with the intake at the front of the airbox. If you fold under the front flap it will only cover about a fourth of this area which seems to work fine. |
