Had a fun time at SMHD&Buell today on the Dyno Drags. My camera was dead, so we'll have to wait for one of the other 3%ers to post some pics. Odometer 39,300 (+OR-) 10.8 Quarter mile time 132 MPH .83 reaction time 85.5 HP That was my best time out of three. Shred won fastest Buell. He'll have t post his times. Clown (Cameron the General Manager) finally after 3 years beat his wife. Black_sunshine and I raced. He won on his 10,000 mile lighter Buell. We actually were pretty dang close. Post some pics! Beautiful day. Good friends. Good times. |

Man, I had a blast! Glitch and I were EXTREMELY close! B_S best run: Me+bike=584lbs 10.874sec 134.20mph 0.96 reaction time (must work on that) 87.6 HP (very pleased with that number for a 9S) Glitch....according to my sheet 10.89sec 132.5mph 0.782 reaction time(0.5 is perfect) 85.5HP Glitch...we were seperated by 2 one-thousandths of a sec. That is an eyelid blink!!!! Guess it was those 30K some odd miles that made the difference. Oh...and I did smoke my Dad TWICE by more than 1sec. Third run...one of his mufflers came loose at the clamp. 1500cc Screaming Eagle Road King my a$$! Guess the big boy couldn't hang with the querky 9. Pics Please (Message edited by black_sunshine on November 05, 2005) |

Walk me through one of these Teresi dyno drag runs. On the start, can you rev to 5K rpmm and just dump the clutch or what? Is the bike tied down to prevent such a technique from causing a problem? |

On the start, can you rev to 5K rpm and just dump the clutch or what? Well, I guess you could, but you'd tremendous wheel hop, or if you had a worn tire it may just spin up. Is the bike tied down to prevent such a technique from causing a problem? Yes, they are strapped down pretty good. It's a trailer (of the semi variety) that has two dynos side by side. You start off by weighing the bikes with you on the bike. Me and mine came out to 597lbs. You stage the bikes by getting the drum to a marked spot. Then you watch the Christmas Tree go yellow, yellow, yellow, GREEN. They calculate a 1/4 mile and turn on the Tree again to show the race is over. There's a computer with the announcer guy, that calculates time, distance, hp, ect. I'll try and dig up one of last year's pics so you have an idea. |

Blake.....only problem with dumping at 5k is a bad wheel hop and maybe snapping the ole belt. Just ask New12r......sheared the teeth right off at the front pulley and spit them out the back of the dyno. New12r XB12R Buell Race kit Shred Odie Pipe Now....only numbers I know is Shred just edging out New12r with a time of 10.1 sec 1/4 mile. They will have to post with other numbers |

Usually you have to feather the throttle at the start, because depending on how tight the drum, depends on how quickly your bike stalls. |

It wasn't very scientific, it was a game. But, everything was pretty consistent to where I believe it was a fair game. The one who won, was the one that spun the dyno the fastest through a calculated 1/4 mile. Interesting. More like Fun! |

Cool. I wondered whether you 3%ers had some secret HP boosting ingredient that you weren't sharing with the rest of us! |

Boy those HP numbers seem kinda high for all the bikes. Except for the custom high dollar bikes turning out like 70 HP, and the V-rods making 70 to 80. The measurements were made at the end of the 1/4, not on an ongoing pace like a true dyno test. |

I wondered whether you 3%ers had some secret HP boosting ingredient that you weren't sharing with the rest of us! No chance, none of us are real good at keeping secrets. |
