wouldn't you know it, 9951 miles and trouble. I turn on the key and gauges work however no headlight. No ignition or fuel pump when I turn that on. Is my battery dead or am I looking at a ignition problem? I'm stuck at work. It's 2230 central, 04 Nov 05 so don't bother responding to this if it's after 2330. Unless you can help me after I pick it up tomorrow. thanks -poondogger |

"I" dunno what to say other than not to overlook the simple stuff - check your fuses and make sure your relays are seated well. Battery cable... |

make sure your relays are seated well That'd be my guess, or they're stuck. StealthXB had the same problem stuck at the Vortex one night. Took out the relays and tossed them on the ground, put them back in and rode home, still had to buy new ones in the end. |

Just had the exact same thing happen on my 12R. Turn on the key and get the needle sweep and the dash lights up and the signals and tail light work, but no fuel pump and no headlights. I pulled out the relays and switched them around and found the bad one. Hopefully going to pick one up (and a spare or two) this morning to replace it. |

Funny, I had the same problem at about 6,000mi, go out after work, turn the key, gages sweep but nothing else. I just kept playing with it till it worked. Not long after that, say 7,000, the speedometer would briefly drop off at speed, like for a second. Now at 10,000mi and so far i've managed to cheat him (Devil) |

Update - on mine it was definitely one of the relays. It simply wasn't seating properly. I got a new one and it's fine now. But, I was able to bend the prongs out just a little on the "bad" one and it was able to seat properly and get a good connection and it would start right up. Good luck Poondogger. |

billy, same deal here. bad relay, replaced under warranty. I should have replaced the thing myself, took the dealer 3 days to get to it. I'll be breaking 10k miles tonight. thanks (Message edited by poondogger on November 09, 2005) |

3 days are a bummer, but glad to hear it was nothing serious! |

Well it isn't exactly fixed yet. I only got to 9989 because now the gauges are dead (including of course the odometer). Halfway to work they quit. They came on and off for a while, suspecting a fuse problem with that. |
