OK, here the deal. I have put together a promotion for the winter months for XB12X bikes. Here goes, Buy the bike between Dec 1 2005 and Jan 31st 2006. Paperwork must be done, bike must be paid for by Jan 31st 2006. I will store the bike for free until May 4th 2006. They will be kept in our heated warehouse, put in the battery tender rotation and be covered up. Be in Appleton Thursday May 4th to pick up the bike. I can set up the suspension and go thru the bike with you. Thursday night, get together for dinner. Friday May 5th, ride to East Troy to see the factory. I have not set up the details with the factory yet. I'm sure it will be good. Lunch at Gus' Drive In Ride back to Appleton Sat May 6th Ride to Iron Mountain MI in the U.P. This is only about a 3-4 hours ride so it will leave us plenty of time to do some exploring on Sat afternoon. There are plenty of roads that will be perfect for the ULY. I have a local that is willing to be tourguide for us while we are there! They even have coffee for Kandie and Bobbie. Dinner together Sat night in Iron Mountain Sunday May 7th Sleep in, go have coffee or come out and ride. Your choice. At 2pm we will head back to Appleton or you can head home from the UP depending on where you are headed. Details so far, We will have a chase trailer to haul gear and some repair parts just in case. The U.P. is a very scenic area with waterfalls and even mountains? I've never been there so it will be an adventure for me too. What's the deal as far as the $$? Last years Buy,Fly and Ride program was a huge hit but it was a total pain to keep everything straight as far as who was flying, driving, how many night of hotel and so on. This year I have decided to make it easier and fair to everyone. 2006 XB12X 11495.00 Frt 240.00 setup no charge Program discount -500.00 Cost of the bike 11235.00 Plus, you get a 100.00 gift certificate to the dealership. 15% off all your parts and gear at time of purchase and for the following year. If you buy luggage for the bike you will get the 15% off and I'll throw in the installation for free! Factory warranty thru March 31st 2008, so you will not lose much warranty time while the bike is in storage here. I'll get some t-shirts made for everyone who participates in the promotion. You will be responsible for your own expenses getting to, staying in Appleton and Iron Mountain and getting home. I will arrange a group deal with the motels in both towns. I want to take at least 10 new Ulys to the U.P. OK, who's going to be first? Small details to be worked out as they come up. |

Wow... sounds like fun, but I just bought a xb9sx. Man, my whole family is from Iron Mountain Michigan. Hasn't changed much in 30 years. Still have a drive-in A&W from like the 40's. All I got to say is watch for deer! Oh, and say hi to my grandparents on main street, just don't go roaring by, my grandpa might shoot at you with his shot gun |

Hey Daves, Does Buell/Dunlop make chains for their tires? I may need 'em getting across the rockies in May. |

By May you should be fine. Take 74 thru Denver and then head across before you turn north to ID. I think you should just go ahead and reserve one |

You've gone and done it. I've been lurking around here bikeless for about 3 months and this post made me finally register. I've read nothing but good things about Dave from the folks on this board. I have not gotten to demo a Uly yet (have ridden the XB12Ss and XB12R) and until I started reading the reviews I was seriously looking at getting a BMW R1200RT in the spring. I'm thinking hard on this one and I just may need to visit Appleton in the spring. |

I've seen both in person and the Barricade Orange almost passes for a 2-wheel Steeler-mobile! |

Daves, you are killing me!!! another great deal. Problem is I just picked mine up! Oh, well such is life. If anyone is thinking about this, you have to do it, the bike is great! and the ride sounds like a blast. Hey Ikeman, I live in Monroeville. Good luck with your purchase, I went through Cerini HD in Rostraver and enjoyed the whole experiance, but Daves is pushing a better deal (and you have the trip included, by the time you get back to PA it'll be broken in!) |

Snub, Just saw your post - I was moving and finally got a chance to get on the board. Let me guess it was Barricade Orange? I drive past Cerini's every day for work and they called me the day they uncrated the first one. I checked it out but didn't get to ride it. They (Cerini's) seem like a good outfit - I used to deal with Z&M in Greensburg (formerly in Latrobe). |

What's going on Ike, I got a black one (I'm into the whole low key / not too flashy kinda thing. I even took all of the factory and dealer stickers off of my F150.) Anyway either color is ok. The bike is still fantastic! I haven't had any problems with Cerini yet and I don't think I will, they seem to bee on the ball. I didn't go with Z&M because I heard alot of good things about Cerini, that's all. |

Snub, Z&M was for HD and dirtbike stuff - they don't do Buells. The only other Buell dealers I know of around here are Gatto in Tarentum (I think they still sell Buell) and Somerset HD/Buell. Did you get the bags? |

I'm a moron.... I know Z&M dosn't do Buells! Anyway, Gatto still has Buell. I don't care for them though. I went down and spoke with a salesman. They didn't have any Uly's but they said they would call as soon as one came in. I stopped in a few weeks later (no phone call) as I was in the area and there was a Uly right by the front door! I spoke with the very same salesman and he had no recollection of even talking to me! Now, I don't have the best memory and I can understand that he sees a few people a day, but it's kinda his job to remember people who are interested in purchasing bikes...maby it's just me. I just didn't have a good vibe while I was there. Spirit HD on Rt 8 (in the Allison Park area) has Buells but I didn't realize that until today. I think the HD dealer in Morgantown WV sells Buells, that may be closer to you than anything North of PGH. I did get the bags but they are not in yet. From other threads on the "badweb" it seems that the wait is common, no big deal, I needed to get used to the bike without the bags first. |
